Liz & Luna

Liz and Luna (a nickname) were two of the Careers from Game 1. Liz's character was named Harper, she was from District 1, and she was 15 years old. Luna's character was named Frigg, she was from District 2, and she was 13 years old. Liz was a few years younger than her character, and Luna was around the same age, but both girls were their characters. Not in appearance. Liz actually looked more like Frigg than Luna did. Short, blonde (or very light-brown hair), wide-eyed. And Luna, if I remember correctly, looked like a younger Harper, with very dark brown hair and narrow eyes, but shorter-haired.

Harper was a very independent, pragmatic, and charming girl who was quicker than others to get frustrated. So was her creator, Liz. Oh, I loved Liz. She was very kind and had a good sense of humor. I thought that she and I would be here until the end, best friends. I cared a lot about her, even though I knew she had Internet friends, and "real life" friends, that she had known for better and longer. Every time I spoke to her in the good old days, everything was light, cheery, happy, filled with memes and laughter...you wouldn't know a storm was coming that would drive her away. And she was great to have around. You would only need to know about her slight temper if you were, oh I don't know...easily hurt? Sensitive? Luna was. Yes, one should never pair someone who gets easily frustrated with someone who gets easily emotionally hurt. I didn't know that at the time. I didn't know them at the time.

Frigg was smaller than the other Careers, so she had an inferiority complex. She was very caring, but seemed to shut off empathy when someone teased or insulted her. So she loved and tried to understand others until they showed signs of not doing the same for her. And who does that remind you of? Luna. As with Liz, there was no evidence of oncoming trouble. She was very silly, very jolly. She loved werewolves, and talking about suicide triggered her. She was the type of person who you could feel both very sorry for and cruelly judgmental of.

Harper and Frigg teased and fought each other a lot throughout the days before the first Game. But then the reality of how much they enjoyed each other's virtual company in real life, as Liz and Luna, won over, and when Harper, and the boy from District 4 she was dating, Dante (don't worry, Demi, there's going to be a chapter about you, too), died in the Arena together, Frigg went after their killer, and won the Games through her love of Harper.

Liz and Luna. Before the Salty Waffles Squad, there was just Liz, Luna, Demi and I. The Big Four. The only remainder of the good old days, in the 1st and 2nd Games when we got along, is Demi. Demi stayed. Thank you, Demi. (I'll say more in the chapter about Demi.) But that was the original squad, and we thought we were all gonna hang on tight to each other and never let go. Before there was Baylee, who introduced me to Black Butler, and before there was Elsa, who is my magical crazy twin from somewhere else in the world - she hasn't told me yet - and Nisha, and Margot, and everyone, who I love, and before there were the 3rd and 4th Games...there was just Liz, Luna, Demi, and I. They were my core people at that time. And we were all gonna hang on tight to each other and never let go.

This is the story of how that fell apart.

Luna was angry with us. It was when the Tributes for the 3rd Game were all just coming together.

She had left all the DMs. That's what we thought. And then we thought she had left by accident, and someone else added another person so she couldn't get back in.

And then we realized that's not what it was about at all.

I actually wrote something to summarize what happened from my perspective a few months ago. Because I still didn't know. I posted something on my edits/backup account (before I got logged out of it) reading "A message for Luna & Liz (in caption):" (with "Don't be a bitch, read it." on the very bottom in tiny letters) and captioned it like so:
