"Sheena! Sheena! SHEENA!" my mom yells from downstairs. "What mom!?" I yell back. "Get down here and eat your breakfast!" I get out from under the covers and turn on the radio. "My name is blurry face and I, care what you think," I turn it off faster than the speed of light. I can't stand any of today's music.

When I get downstairs I get a bowl and pour some cereal. "So hun, what do you want for your 14th birthday next week?" my mom asks. "I don't know, some more clothes I guess." I say with a shrug. My aunt gives me the 'what do you mean more clothes? you already have enough!' look. "Well I don't need anything else. Maybe some more CDs just for the fun of it." "We gave you CDs last year though!" my 9 year old sister complained. I rolled my eyes and finished my cereal. After I put my bowl away, I went upstairs to get ready for school.

When I arrived to school, my best friend Teegan was sitting on the stairs waiting for me. "Sheena! Whatsup?" she said while she walked up to me and gave me a hug. "Nothing really, still deciding what I want for my birthday." I replied. "Oh, that reminds me! Maddox wants us both to come over for a surprise birthday present for you. You wanna go today?" Teegan asks while she raises one eyebrow. "That sounds good. Besides, I don't wanna say no to Maddox." Maddox is my other best friend. He is one of the coolest guys out there. I could never fall in love with him though, we've been friends since preschool.

The bell rings and I say goodbye to Teegan. As I walk down the hallway I see every girl with five pounds of makeup on, and every guy with white vans. I hate today's style, all I was wearing was an outfit I've worn at least 10 times throughout the year. All these girls seem to have a new outfit every day. And honestly, I don't know why there's so much drama. 'she had sex with John Varc, what a hoe!' 'she had the nerve to tell me I'm ugly on Facebook, she's a bitch.' Those are just some of the things I hear on a daily basis.

After school, Maddox finds me in the crowded hallway. "Hey, where's Teegan?" I asked looking around. "She's already headed to my house. I've got a big surprise waiting for you!" He answers while he grabs my hand in eagerness and leads me out the door.

As we all walk to our destination, a car drives by while blasting out music. "Taking my time on my riiiiiiide, wooooooah," I groan and cover my ears. What is it with this crappy band? I'd rather bathe in a bathtub of mustard than have to listen to that stuff. "I can't stand to listen to that song one more time." Teegan says while she rests her head on my shoulder. "We're almost there guys, then we can see Sheena's special surprise!" Maddox eagerly shouts.

We finally reach Maddox's house and set our stuff down on the couch. "You guys might wanna bring that stuff, and a couple of water bottles." he sys while smiling. Me and Teegan give each other the 'what in the hell' look. Maddox leads us into the garage. "I don't mean to bring you down or anything but I don't need a garage.." I say while rubbing my foot on the cold, dirty ground. "Haha, it's not the garage, its this!" Maddox laughs and rips a sheet off of a weird machine. "Woah! What is it?" Teegan yells while running to touch it. Maddox stops her and explains. "Sheena, I know how much you want to travel back to the 80s, so I made you this. Its a time machine!" My jaw drops and I have no words. "Maddox! You built this yourself? Its amazing! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Wait, how do you know it works?" I ask. "I don't know if it works, we are all test monkeys!" Maddox shouts and presses a button.

The machine sparks a little and I feel nothing. We were all standing under it, get nothing happens. "Cmon stupid thing!" Teegan yells and kicks the machine. Suddenly a bright pink light shines above us. "Here we go gals!" Maddox says in between breaths. He grabs pur hands and that's the last thing I felt before everything turned black.
