It felt as if I never fell asleep I slowly opened my eyelids dreading the sight of sunlight but like everyday the sun never failed to blind my eyes. I groaned turning over to see if my brother was awake. Surprisingly he was. I stood up rubbing away the sleep from my eyes. My mind continued to tumble around as I walked down the lightly lit hallway. Then out of nowhere my mom pops up her blonde messy curls of hair seemed to shimmer in the gleaming light from the kitchen window.She was in a hurry which wasn't hard to tell because of her frantic eyes rushing her in different directions. "Mom what is going on?" I asked looking at her through the small slits my eyelids would allow. "Well I'm going to work and you.... You are taking Richard to the neighbors yard sale and letting him pick something out maybe it will help him feel better.." She said with a sigh at the end of her "demands".
   She picked up her jacket and folded it over her arm and grabbed her purse. She began to walk down the old wooden steps but stopped and turned around to look mean the eyes, " nowhere else only the yard sale then straight home.. I don't want you hanging out with those weird kids.."
