Amelia Keating

I can't believe I lost track of the time. Three hours ago I was an entire chaos trying to meet the deadline for this project that I am working on, but now I'm about to turn into a pandemonium. I lost every inch of focus (which I tried so hard to summon, by the way) when my phone rang. It was my cousin slash best girl friend Megan who was at the other end of the line. I believe I was going to tell her I'm busy but the moment she spoke, my sentence voluntarily slid itself down my throat then it vanished in thin air just like that.

I guess I also truthfully lost interest in working when I heard what Meg had to say. Her voice was squeaky, unlike usual. She was giggling even before she could tell me what she was about to tell me and I even had to threat her to finally spill the overflowing bleans.

"I'm seeing someone."

Just by hearing her voice, I could tell how excited she was to tell me that finally, someone laid eyes on her. But she's probably more ecstatic over the fact that she's sharing the story with me.

At first I rolled my eyes on her "urgent" message, but then as the call went on, I realized Meg and I are just about the same age. No, I'm not jealous that she's finally found herself a man. I'm happy for her in fact. Now she'll have a reason to believe me when I say that she's not even close to being ugly and that she definitely has a lot of admirers out there, they're just intimidated or who knows, shy to step up. But! But, I am kind of worrying since the guy probably belongs to the same generation as us, then that will only mean that we'll be sharing Megan's time and attention and all that.

I don't really mind if they will have to spend a lot of time together. I just hope I won't lose the best girl friend I can ever have just because she started seeing someone.
