Prologue

As Skyler set in her room reading a book on a cold, stormy night, she heard a loud noise outside her window. As Skyler got up to see what the noise was out the window, she heard a scream inside the house. Skyler went running down the hall to the kitchen, where her Mom was still screaming. As Skyler came into the kitchen, she came to a dead stop. Her Dad was laying on the floor with blood everywhere. The police took their statements. Skyler called the detective in charge and told him that she remembered early in the day that she saw her Dad arguing with some man. The detective said he would check into it. Skyler went to the police station to find out if they had found the man. The detective in charge told Skyler that the man was working with her Father on a project together, but he wouldn't tell her anything else. Skyler lefted feeling as if the detective really didn't want to find out what happen to her Father. Skyler went home to find her Mother talking to the same guy her Dad was arguing with the night he was killed. Grace introduced Skyler to Dr. Mark Martin. As the days went by after the funeral, Dr. Martin would come over to talk to Grace. Skyler couldn't help but feel like her Mother was trying to forget about her Father. It was about two months after the death of her Father, but the detective hasn't got any more leads in the case.

It was four years later…. Skyler bolted upright in a cold sweat and a scream on her lips from her nightmare as she replayed seeing her Father in a pool of blood.
