Deadly Rose's {#Wattys2016}

Chapter One

   I looked at the clock it was 3:oo in the morning. I got up knowing that I wasn't going back to sleep. I got into the shower so the water could wash away the sweat from my skin. Thinking to myself if only the water could wash away the murder of my Father. My Father's case has never been solved. As I step out my apartment door there was a box setting on the floor. I stood there looking at the box with my name on it trying to figure out who would leave a box by my door. As I bend down to pick it up I heard a door open down the the hall. I looked up to see if I could see who opened the door ,but I didn't see anybody. So, I picked up the box an went back inside to open it. As I looked inside the box a note fell out. There was 12 long stemed dead rose's inside of the box. I was afraid to read what the note said, but I opened the note anyway. It read: I KILLED YOUR FATHER. YOU WILL NEVER FIND ME, BUT I WILL ALWAYS KNOW WERE YOU ARE. I freaked out over the note and called the police. The police came over an took the note and the roses to see if they could get any DNA off of them. I went to work feeling as if the person that killed my Father was after me now. My best friend Bella called me to have lunch with her today. I agreed to have lunch with her. When I showed up Bella took one look at me an knew that my Father's murder case was getting to me again. She said " Sky you need to stop killing yourself over trying to found out what happen." I told her the samething I always tell her. I can't stop looking into it because the police aren't doing anything about it.

    It's been two weeks since the nightmares started again. I set at my desk working on paper work that needed to be finished by the end of the week. As I was typing in the information onto the computer for work this messenger screen popped up you have mail. I set their staring at the message. The message said: MEET ME AT THE PARK IN 30 MINTUES BY THE PLAYGROUND IF YOU WANT TO FOUND OUT WHY YOUR FATHER WAS KILLED. It keep repeating it over and over again. I look at the clock it was 8:30 p.m. I had 30 mintues to get to the park in time to meet who ever it was that send me the message. I got in my car an drove to the park. I got out of my car an looked at my watch. I still had 2 mintues to get down to the playground area. When I got their I didn't see anybody around the playground. I turned around to leave when I heard my name being called. I turned back around to see this guy standing by the swing set. I stood there frozen in spot. He started walking to me. I backed up a step as he got closer to me. I realize that it was dark and I was alone with somebody I didn't even know. I turned around an run to my car. As I got to my car I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned around to hit the guy in the face, but he grabbed my hand. I started to scream, but he put a hand over my mouth. He put his face in my face an told me not to scream if I didn't want to be killed by the other guy that was following me around. Right after he said that the other guy that followed me came running toward us with guns out. He grabbed my arm an started to run toward the motorcycle parked at the opposite end of the parking lot. I stood there looking at the motorcycle. He told me to get on if I didn't want to be shot. I got on the motorcycle.

    He took me to some kind of warehouse. I got off of the motorcycle an backed away from him as I asked him what his name was. My name is Chase Osborne. As I got a better look at him in the light I thought that I had meant him before. I asked him have we meant before. He looked up from looking at the papers in his hand. He said yes and no. What does that mean? I worked in your Father's office for about a year before he died. Your Father introduced me to you a couple of days before he died. Do you know why my Father was killed? Yes! Over the project that your Father and Dr. Martin were working on. How do you know that? Were you working on the project too? Before he could answer the questions that I asked him. His phone started ringing. He answered the phone. The person on the other line asked if he had found out anyother information they needed to know about the project that Dr. Morgan and Dr. Martin were working on? He went into the other room to answer. No, not anymore than I told you the last time I talked to you, but I have Dr. Morgan's daughter here with me right now. I will ask her if she know anything more about the project they were working on. He got off the phone with his captain. He came back into the room and seen that I was still standing up . I turned around when he came back into the room, and asked him are you going to answer my questions now. Yes, I will answer your questions if you sit down. I sat down in the chair on the opposite side of the room. He sat down in the only other chair in the room. I will start by telling you that no, I didn't work on the project with them. Before I could ask again how do you know that my Father was killed over his project again. He said I have to tell you something else. I was sent to work at Dr. Morgan's office to investigate Dr. Martin. I sat there in shock. My mind was racing with all kinds of questions, but I couldn't get anything to come out of my mouth. He just sat their staring at me waiting for me to say something to him before he went on with his story about Dr. Martin. When I could talk again all I could say was I have to go. I started to the door before I could open the door he stopped me. I started to fight with him over leaving. He told me I needed to stay to listen to the rest of the story, but I didn't want to stay all I could think about was getting to my mom to warn her that she was in danger. As if being able to read my mind. He told me that my Mother is safe from Dr. Martin because there is somebody watching the house right now. Skyler listen to me your mom will be ok. I need you to help me. How can I help you? Do you know anything at all about the project that your Father was working on before he died. No, I don't know anything about it. I have been trying to figue out what the project is by looking at all of the paper work and his computer. I haven't been able to figure out what it is. Do you have the papers and computer with you? No, it is at my apartment. We need to go to your apartment an get it.

   We got to my apartment and the door was standing open. He pushed me behind him and said I will go in first to make sure nobody is still here. He went in an checked all of the rooms. Nobody was there, but the apartment was a mess. He called to me an told me I could come in now. I came in an seen that the mess was everywhere. He asked me if the computer and the papers were still there. I went into the bedroom to the closet to see if the box was still there. The box was gone. I turned an looked at Chase and said that the box that I had everything in was gone. Now, how are we going to find out what the project they were working on now? I don't know,but we will figure something out. Come on we need to get out of here just in case the person that was here has somebody watching to see when you come back. Chase just got the words out of his mouth when we heard a noise coming from the living room. Chase grabbed my arm and lead me to the window to go out by the fire escape. Just as we opened the window two men burst into the room with guns out. Chase pushed me to go out the window as he pulled out his gun. I went out the window an climbed down the stairs as fast as I could go. Chase fired his gun at the two men as he went out the window too. As soon as we got down on the ground we made a run for the car. Just as we got to the car we had to dunk down because two more guys showed up as the other two came out the window shooting at us. We made a run for the alley only to be blocked by a fence. Chase grabbed my arm an pushed me to climb up on the dumpster to get over the fence. We got over the fence just as the four guys got to the fence.

   We got out on the sidewalk only to see that we had more trouble coming toward us. Chase grabbed my hand an started to run down the sidewalk to get lost in the crowd. As wegot into the crowd we slowed down. I looked over my shoulder to see if we lost them, but they were right behind us. Chase their right behind us. I know we have to find away to lose them. Come on let's go into the store across the street. We got across the street to go into the store as one of the guys spotted us. As we got into the store Chase asked the store keep if he had a back door we could go out of. The store keeper just looked at us and looked at the door as six big guys came rushing into the store. He motioned for us to go through this door to the side of the counter. I thanked him for letting us go out the back door. We got back out on the sidewalk to circle back around to the car. We stood at the corner to make sure nobody was lefted at the car waiting for us to try to come back for the car. Nobody was their so, we crossed the street got into the car an took off as fast as we could.

   We got back to the warehouse, so Chase could call his chief, but the phone wasn't working. He grabbed his gun out of his shirt just as we heard a noise outside of the door. Before I could say anything he grabbed me by the hand a lead me to some kind of door in the floor. He told me to get in an stay their until he came back for me. No, I'm going with you. No, your not your going to get in there an stay. Chase please lets just get out of here. I have to go see how many are here so, I can get us out of here without getting hurt. Ok, just becareful. I will be. He closed the door an took off. I sat in the dark praying that nothing happened to him.

   I took off toward the stairs as I heard them trying to get in the door. I got up the stairs to the door that leads to the top of the roof. I looked over the railing to see that there was at lease thirthy guys all around the warehouse. I climbed back down the stair to get back down to get Skyler. I got the door open an climbed down to get to her. As I turned on the lights Skyler throw herself into my arms crying. I held her in my arms until she stopped crying. I'm sorry I wasn't trying to start crying on you. I'm normally stronger then this. Skyler you have the right to be upset over everything that has happened. Thank you for that. Your welcome. Come on we have to get out of here. What's going on? We have at least thirty guys around the warehouse. How are we going to get out of here? We are going through the tunnel.
