"Ugh Lils, c'mon. You've got to stop hanging in the shadows."
"I like the shadows, Sto."
"No you don't."
"Yes, actually I d-"
"She's right Lils. You need to do something different this year. It's your senior year of high school. You don't wanna graduate being the creepy, quiet girl, do you?"
Yes. I know I said I didn't talk to anyone but no one can go though high school alone right? That's my two best friends, Shayne and Stormy Brown. They're twins. We've been best buds since they moved here in second grade. Our teacher had forced me to talk to them. Now don't get me wrong, I'm glad we became close and all but sometimes I just want to strangle them.
We're in homeroom right now two weeks into school and these two are already trying to get me to be involved in school activities.
"Just pick one lils" Shayne said.
"No" I replied simply.
"Please?" Stormy begged.
"Guys, I'm perfectly fine being a nonpartisipant."
"How about pretty please? Will pretty please work?" Stormy pleaded.
"Look, there's cheerleading, dancing, beta club, student council, yearbook,..theres a bunch of stuff here lil. Can't you just try?" Shayne said trying to change my mind.
"Are you kidding Shayne? You guys must have forgotten my social awkwardness. It's okay though. I'll forgive you this one time."
He sighed which made me grin triumphantly.
'Yes!' I celebrated mentally. 'He's given up! One twin down, one to g-'
"No! No no no no no." Stormy interupted my thoughts. "You may have guilted Shay out of making you do this but there is no way I'm backing down. Sign up for something now."
"But-"
"No but's Banks. Pick something. Homeroom is almost over."
Shay and I both furrowed our brows and tilted our heads to the side.
"Don't y'all look at me like I'm crazy. This is for your own good Lilliana Nichloe Banks."
"Sheesh. You sound like mí madre Storm." I mumbled.
Shayne snickered "Nichloe...gets me every time."
"Shut up Shay. I can't help the odd middle name I have. Blame my mum."
"Speaking of your mom.." Shayne trailed off.
"No, my parents aren't getting a divorce any time soon. Stop liking my mom, its weird."
He sighed. "Don't crush my dreams Lills. She's only 36 that's not weird."
"Yeah and you're only 17. Shes almost 20 years older than you. Do you know how very illegal that is?"
"And gross" Storm added.
"Whatever. She's still hot and thats all that matters to me."
"Ewww" Stormy and i said at the same time causing Shayne to laugh.
The first block bell rang and Stormy growled.
"See, this is why I asked you to pick something then" She turned to shayne. "You distracted her Shay, now she doesn't have time." she said angrily.
"I'll pick something, gosh." I got my pen and circled the first thing on the list.
"Look, nothing to worry about sis." He turned in the paper to the homeroom teacher and swung an arm over each of our shoulders.
