Moving to the city is the hardest thing I've ever had to do. Alone, skint and no friends yet! Oh wow, what have I gotten myself into? This was the job of my dreams though, and like my mom said there was no way I could turn it down. When reality hits though, its like a slap around the face with a wet fish. Oh, my names Lucy by the way. I'm 22, originally from Manchester but moved down to London last week. I'd been offered an amazing internship at Syco Entertainment. The biggest entertainment company in the World. Music is a massive part of my life so accepting this position was a no brainer. A step onto that tall ladder. Anyways I was here now living in a shared house with 2 lads and a girl I didn't know and it was lonely as hell.
Maybe it's the way she walked .. Straight into my heart and stole it (8), my phone chimed out that familiar ringtone from my favourite boy band, One Direction (who happened to be signed to the label I'm now working for eeeek). It was my boss, Chelsea. She was 35 years old, tall and beautiful and so intimidating my hands actually shook when I picked up her call.
"Lucy, its Chelsea I need you to get down to the office ASAP. I've got some high profile clientele coming in and Darcey's called in sick so I need you to take care of them today"
"Wow its like 5am Chelsea and I'm the first person you thought of? Sure I'll do it though, what time should I be there? And who is it by the way?"
"You really don't need to know that just yet. Just get down here as fast as you can and make sure you look your best. I know you've been having a tough time missing home but your not gonna want to look rough today sweety. Ciao".
And with that I hopped into the shower and flicked on my GHDs. Better run the straighteners over my mop if I'm looking after a VIP today!
Walking into the office, everyone was rushing around, making sure everywhere was neat and tidy, the fridges and cupboards were stocked with drinks, crisps, sweets etc. You name it we got it that day. All the girls were re-doing their make up and hair. What the hell is going on here? Its like Barack Obama's coming to visit. That's when I saw them. The whole reason everyone was flapping so much. The biggest band on the planet. One Direction. My idols. I was a proper fan, a 'Directioner' as we're affectionately called. And I was going to be tending to their every need. FUCK YEAHHHH I was screaming to myself in my mind. I could get photos and autographs and Instagram all my mates from home. They'd love this. But then it dawned on me. I was at work, and this was not proffessional. If I acted like a fool I may never get the opportunity to work with anyone high profile again. And I really wanted to impress Chelsea because I knew she thought I was a common Northerner who would never make it in London. So, as I fancied myself as a bit of an actress, I casually flicked my long plum coloured hair over my shoulders and strutted into the conference room where the boys were waiting for someone to greet them.
"Hi guys, my names Lucy and I'm an intern here at Syco. If there's anything you want or need I'm the girl to see today. So, is there anything I can do for you right now?"
Harry shot a glance to Niall who smirked and grinned at me which made me blush.
"I like your hair Luce, blonde is so 2010" Zayn giggled which made me smile a little.
"I'm Zayn by the way, these 4 are rude so I thought I'd better introduce meself" he drawled in his thick, Bradford accent.
"Harry"
"Hi, I'm Liam"
"Louis, are you from Manchester Lucy? My girlfriends at uni there so I recognise your accent"
"Niall. Nice to meet ya".
Wow, it was so overwhelming them all chattering away to me like they already knew who I was.
