Frowning, I look down at the song book on my stand.
"Ah, ah, ah!" Mrs. Jenkins demonstrates, getting louder with every 'ah'.
"Ah, ah, ah!" I try.
"Good, good," Mrs. Jenkins takes a deep breath. "Alright class, we're done for the day. Pack up."
The class begins to pack up. I go and take my seat beside Jaime.
"Good job," he compliments.
"Thanks, that's a toughy."
He laughs. "No kidding. She wants me to sing the male solo. Do you know how deep my voice is? I'll never hit that high note."
I giggle escapes my lips and I try to recompose myself. "A little bit of practice should do."
"A little?" He asks sarcastically.
I laugh. "Okay fine. A lot."
He nods and laughs along.
"How much time for the bell?" He asks, seeing that I've got my phone in hand. I grab my phone off the stand and turn on the screen.
"Three minutes," I reply casually.
"Mrs. Jenkins!" He calls out. "Can we be dismissed?"
Nodding, Mrs. Jenkins replies, "Go ahead."
Everyone gets up and leaves, but as Jaime and I get up to leave, she stops us.
"What's wrong?" Jaime asks, his brows furrowing together.
"Practice." Is all she says before getting up and entering her office, closing the door behind her.
Shrugging and utterly confused, Jaime and I walk out of the classroom and make our ways to our lockers silently.
"What do you think all that was about?" Jaime asks once we get to our lockers. Our lockers are right beside each other.
"She really wants us to make finals," I sigh.
"I know," he replies before heading off to his next class.
My next class would be science, and if I didn't get there on time or have everything I needed, Mr. Hendrick would be sure to fail me. If I wasn't already failing his class.
Walking in super early, Mr. Hendrick frowned at me as he put the sandwich he was having for lunch down.
"What brings you here so early, speedy Gonzalez?" Mr. Hendrick asks.
I shrug. "What are we doing today?" I ask, sitting on my stool and putting my stuff at the corner of the charcoal colored rectangle of a table.
"Test."
I look up at him, "We have a test?!" Oh God, I'll be sure to fail this one now.
He nods. "I've told you for a week or so, or haven't I, Yoandri?"
I turn to see a boy. He has night black, curlyish hair. His skin is a soft, pail peach. He is wearing black skinny jeans, a black shirt, and a black leather jacket. He has two bracelets on one hand. One brown and one white. He finishes the look with black shoes. I'd never really seen him before, and I didn't remember what Mr. Hendrick said his name was. He was quite cute actually.
"Yes, sir," he spoke, meeting my gaze. Our eyes locked, and I looked down, feeling slightly embarrassed as to being caught staring.
"What is it about?" I asked frantically, looking up at Mr. Hendrick, begging him to tell me.
Mr. Hendrick shrugged and returned to his desk. Frantically, I begin looking at my book, trying to figure out where the last place we stopped was at.
"Properties of..." The kid at the far end of the room said, but I hadn't heard the last part. Unsure of what to do, I look at him blankly. "Properties of an atom," he repeats.
"Um, thanks," I say awkwardly, turning back towards the front.
"No problem."
Stephanie, my best girl friend and favorite cousin, then walks into class a sits at her assigned seat beside me.
"What took you so long?" I joke.
She laughs. "Oh shut it. I have stuff to do and a life, unlike you."
Now it is me who laughs. "Whatever, Steph. You were probably making out with Jaime."
She raises an eyebrow at me. "So what if I was?" She challenges.
"You guys are so cute. OTP for life!" I screech.
She smiles, and I can see a sparkle in her eyes when she thinks about him. "I love him. I really do."
I 'aww' and just take in all the cuteness while she looks back at me like a dork. "I wish I could find someone I love and loves me back like you and Jae," I coo.
She smiles and then the bell rings, signaling class has began.
"You will," she says, winking at me.
I laugh, "Of course I will."
She smirks. "Trust me."
"Loo-"
"Alexis Monroy," Mr. Hendrick interrupts me.
"Here."
