"Sadie! Get your ass down here." My drunken mother slurred from the kitchen.

"Coming." I yelled back, huffing whilst I crossed my arms over my chest, storming out of my room and downstairs.

My mother has had a rough few years after my dad passed away, surely me and my brother were depressed about it but we never let it get to us like it did with her. So in that result, my mother started drinking more and more, some days she'll stay at one of her 'friends' house or she'll sometimes be on 'vacations' with her work colleagues, those lasted a few weeks to months.

In reality those 3 years after my father passed away and my mother went absolutely bonkers, my older brother Jake and I took care of each other.

I walked into the kitchen, only to see my mother with a glass of wine in her hand and luggage in the other.

"Darling, mommy's going on a summer trip to the Canary Island with Justine Ruth." My mother drunkenly spoke, stroking my cheek as if I was a 5 year old.

I wasn't exactly shocked with what came out her mouth because I was expecting this, but I was mostly shocked because we planned a family vacation to Mexico and she forgot about it, my brother sadly had to drop out of the mini trip because he was going away to a military boot camp to train, so it was just me and my mother going. Obviously not anymore.

"But mom what about our trip to Mexico?." I couldn't help but pout because I was looking forward to going.

My mothers smile slightly fell but quickly regained itself, "Maybe next year doll." She leaned down and kissed my cheek, which made me in wipe it off.

"Yeah, yeah." I muttered, looking at the floor.

She quickly looked at her Michael Kors gold watch and I gasped, "Oh deary me, I'm going to miss my flight, bye honey there's a credit card on the counter, feel free to use the money that's in it." She gestured to the kitchen counter, and then handed me her half empty  wine glass, before trudging out of the house in her 6 inch heels and 2 suitcases.

I looked at the wine glass and downed the rest of the beverage in a matter of seconds.

"Well there's my summer ruined." I grumbled, slamming the wine glass on the counter, then hearing it crackle and break.

Honestly I couldn't care less.

"So much for a 'perfect' vacation this year...yay!" I sarcastically waved my hands in the air.

I walked into the family room, sat on the couch and spent the rest of the night watching Netflix, eating snacks and texting friends.

Best start to a summer. Ever.
