I was 12 when I started elaborating my escape. I hadn't developed any new powers for four years until a month before my 13th birthday. No one knew about my power, not even Scott, in some strange, lucky chance of fate. After the day we properly met, he became my best friend. We were hanging out in my room, talking on the bed, like always, when it just happened. No triggers, no warnings. I got a small headache at first, but the longer it went on the worse it got. As soon as it got to the point where it hurt to open my eyes, it went away. I kept my eyes closed until I heard a cushioned thunk on the bed. I opened my eyes, but they weren't my eyes because what I saw was my own body lying on the bed, seeming to be lifeless. I was a little disoriented, but I wasn't frantic. I was taught to never freak out when I found a new power, but to go to a lab worker and explain what happened. This time, I didn't go to tell them. I was trapped in my best friend's body, but I wouldn't tell anyone because I realized that this power could mean escaping. I got excited by the thought of leaving, and closed my eyes again to dream of the outside. I felt the bed under me and saw that I was back in my body. I sat up and looked at a passed out Scott next to me. I lightly smacked his face until he came to.

"Why am I lying down on the bed?" Scott seemed to have no memory of what had happened, which was perfect for me.

"We were just finishing up our talk about how you were going to start your own scientific project to integrate yourself into the scientific community." I spoke nonchalantly and quickly to make sure that he believed that we were actually talking about that. He nodded. After he was reassured that we were just talking, he left my room.

For the next 4 weeks, I had tricked him into letting me practice my new ability on him. I felt so bad, but I knew it the only way for me to leave this place. When he would come to my room, I would have us do a "meditation technique" where we sat across from each other sitting Indian style and put our hands on the other's shoulders. From there, we would close our eyes and I would insert my consciousness into him. I had us holding each other's shoulders to keep my unused body steady. I would just walk around my room after gently setting my body down and get used to it. When I was done, I would sit my body up and leave Scott's. He never noticed because he would remember closing his eyes and wake up with closed eyes. By the day before my 13th birthday, I was a pro. I decided my present would be freedom.

I don't remember when my birthday was, so we decided to make it the day I woke up. The day of my escape was sad. I was supposed to be testing. The good thing about it, though, is that I was knocked unconscious before being taken to the room.  Scott was always the on to do it. On my big day, he brought me a cake and the syringe that was filled with the sleeping agent. After we had our cake, I made us do the meditation. Before I left my self, tears fell down my face.

"Goodbye." I was looking at Scott's face. When I said that he opened his eyes.

"What?" There was a thud and I was in Scott's body. I took the syringe and put it in my, or should I say his, pocket. I used part of my power to find the route to the testing room since I had been unconscious every time I was taken there. I found the way Scott always went and "saw" that we passed the control room and that there were never any guards on our way there. I picked up my empty form and carried it out of the door. We passed a few scientists on our way there, but when it was all clear I sprinted toward the control room. It was all too convenient.

I got to the control room and put my body a few feet down the hall and made my way over there. The door was open and I only saw one guard watching the cameras. I looked into Scott's head to see if he knew this person. I saw that when Scott wasn't with me, he hung out in the control room and even had his OWN CHAIR. I walked in and sat down hoping no one would find my body. The guard didn't even look over to me when he said hi. I thought about what Scott would do.

"Hey" and the talk stopped. We were facing opposite directions, so I used a computer in front of me to hack the cameras and put the current footage on a loop. I did it with ease and when I was done, I couldn't take any chances. I took the syringe that I almost forgot was in my pocket and quietly shut the door without the guard noticing. I walked behind him and apologized. When he turned around, I stabbed the syringe in his neck. I walked out and picked myself up. It was too easy. At the time, I was worried that they knew what was happening. Now, I know that they were too arrogant for their own good.

I knew Scott went to school, a real school, so I got an idea of where the private exit was. I walked there with no problems and no guards at the door. I realized that they completely believed that I would never find a way to escape. Even with my vast knowledge, I was thought to be some sort of idiot to these people. I opened the door and walked out. It was beautiful. I had never actually been outside before. We were in a meadow, surrounded by a forest with lots of trees and birds. It wasn't a jungle, but more like the woods. I sat down and put my body in the same position. I closed my eyes and switched back. I stood up and started running, before Scott could wake up. Before I got to the edge of the trees, I heard him call my name, but I didn't stop running. After running for around 10 minutes, I slowed down to a jog. I approached the edge of the trees at a cliff and looked out. I gazed into the sky and saw thousands of shining lights which had to be stars, then shifted my eyes to what was in front of me, and I saw a beautifully lit city. I wish I could have mindlessly admired the view, but it dawned on me that I would be running from these places for the rest of my life if I wanted to live.

I'm sorry this took literally forever to write, but the writers block was real
