The battle was over. The stranger won. It seemed like a fair fight but the loser was irate. Not at the trainer, but at his bayleef, who was presently cowering in a corner. "Bay..." it whimpered, seeming to want to apologize. Without another word. The stranger threw the pokeball at the wall, shattering it in two. "I cant get stronger with a whippy GRASS type who can't even defeat a simple wartortal! Go on. I release you. Go find another trainer to disappoint." with that he turned and began to walk away.
Bayleef stepped forward, tears forming in its eyes, and was about to call out before a familiar voice called out to her. It was the trainer that defeated her.

"Hey." A hand raised its teary head to his face, he smiled down at her. "If he doesn't want you, then I can take care of you." The trainer grinned. He was a bit taller than most trainers with blue hair and a slightly pale face with narrow glasses, he seemed to know what he wanted and how to get it. "If a trainer is looking for only a strong pokemon, they'll find it, but only after they lose to it. Don't you think?"

"B... Bay?" standing up on all fours, the pokemon seemed to be observing the human. He wanted to take care of her? But why? She was weak after all. It didn't seem that this stranger minded though. In fact, he seemed more than happy to take her in. Still....
She looked back at the her old master, now merely a dot in the distance. Could she really abandon him? What if he needed her? Even if he left her she still felt a sense of obligation.

"Look at me." The trainer spoke calmly, turning her head back at him again. "Not everything is a fight Bayleef, he doesn't understand that a strong pokemon isn't always useful." He reassured, "A real trainer finds ways to work with his pokemon, not just pit them against each other!" He stepped back, holding his arms on his side in the most cheesy way possible. "You'll have way more fun with me than some low tier thug, I'm sure we can find something that isn't a boring old fight." He gave her a thumbs up.

Not fight? But wasn't that what captured pokemon were meant for? Nonetheless, not battling sounded like something too good to be true. Yet she didn't sense any malice from the human. Its stub of a tail wagged a bit, and its eyes laid on the various pokeballs attached to his belt. Bayleef leaned down and grabbed one of them with its mouth, gently sliding it into his hand. "Bay...?"

"Oh you want me to catch you?" A smiling nod surprised him, "These pokemon are for battle Bay, to be honest. I like you cause you'll intimidate my water obsessed family. Also cuz your cute." He nudged her shoulder flirting a bit. Suddenly he hopped up on her back and flicked sunglass covers over his regular glasses. He pointed down the shoreline where a line of seaside houses were, "Take us home cutie, i'm beat from kicking butt all day!"

She eagerly bounded towards the direction he pointed to, though her face was a bit red. Cute? Her? She never even heard the term directed at her before. That and the nickname he gave her made her smile, finding this trainer oddly amusing. So he wouldn't capture her, but he wanted her to stick around anyway? Even if it was for pure intimidation of his family, she still felt happy.

As they set upon the street with passerby people staring outside of cafe's and other miscellaneous stores at the odd two, a young woman walked up to the two and directed her conversation at the trainer, "Well howdy Yunni, that's a mighty fine pokemon you got there. You pokesitting?" "No Ms Fadre, this one is mine. Some jerk left her all alone after he lost a battle." He scowled, comforting the Bayleef by petting her neck gently on top. "I'm sure your parents will have a heart attack at the sight of her." He simply laughed and waved goodbye after a few more pleasantries. "I doubt they'll even be home til tomorrow, everyone is at the capital fighting today at the aqua cup championship." He explained to Bayleef. "Anyway, it's just up the street."

Yunni? So that was the humans name. It seemed fitting. She wagged her tail back and forth as they continued onward, enjoying the petting against her neck. It wasn't very often she was pampered. Actually she was never pampered. Just trained. She then looked at Yunni with a confused expression. "Bay?" she questioned. She was wondering what the big deal was. Why were his family members going to freak?
