A/N: Before I begin, I'd just like to say that this is STILL a DBZ-focused account, and I WILL be continuing Return Of Cell. I'm just having a rough time as of late and there's a lot of writer's block, so updates ARE coming, I promise. Thanks for sticking around, and I hope you enjoy this little idea I randomly had on a bus, within the Pokemon world!
"This is an emergency broadcast;
All residents must evacuate immediately. Repeat: all residents must vacate the premises immediately. Those who remain face serious bodily harm and potentially death.
This message is set to repeat."
Like a dream - a horrible nightmare gone bad, if it could happen - a pregnant Jen Kyria and her husband James ran hand-in-hand down the streets of Lumiose city, the emergency broadcast playing over every speaker positioned around the massive place.
The newlyweds had chosen Lumiose for their honeymoon: a perfect, quiet and romantic city that buzzed ever so quietly below the balcony of their hotel room. In fact the whole thing had seemed befitting for someone of much wealth and power, unlike the young couple.
That was, until this happened. It was war. All out war. Not much was clear at that moment, but there was a group of people with a variety of strange Pokemon Jen had never seen in her life, all attempting to take down the walls around the city. What they wanted within was a mystery to anybody, but as explosive attacks caused debris and rubble to fall around the city's citizens like rain, and the first casualty came about, everyone knew they had but one hope; to escape the city.
Where they were running, Jen did not know, but they had to keep moving. Beside them, a large towering building crumbled at the foundations, and as it crashed to the ground, the shockwave deafening them both for a moment, it barely missed the couple as they ran. Jen was also experiencing pains, from her pregnancy. The fear, the stress and the physical strain on her body was not good for the baby, but she knew that their unborn child had no hope of survival if she waited around.
That night was basically a blur. The next thing Jen could recall was the hospital room, James sitting by her bed, and the broadcast on the news on the tiny TV that sat by her bed. Those damn words replayed over and over in her head.
"Lumiose city has fallen to a group calling themselves 'Team Storm'. Many regions across the world have fallen victim to gang-violence and criminal activity, but none have been this heavily affected. We go now to our team at Ground Zero, who are with a psychologist who is helping on the case.
"Thank you, so what can you tell us about these people, this 'Team Storm'?
"They're absolute psychopaths. Unlike other criminal gangs we know of and have dealt with in the past, the likes of which include Team Rocket, Team Magma and Aqua, and some that continue to operate today, Team Storm are not afraid to spill blood. In fact, by the ruined city behind us, and the bodies we're still pulling from the wreckage days onwards, blood is what they want, nothing else. These are the most dangerous sorts of people to deal with, because they place no boundaries on themselves, there is no reasoning, no way out if they have you. Rest assured we're wor-"
"Turn it off," Jen had said bluntly to James.
Thankfully, her baby appeared to be fine, despite her being in the hospital for a few days. The couple had then returned to their home in Johto, where the nightmares continued to haunt them for years onwards.
--------------------------------------------
"The boy's body was recovered at five this morning, the grieving parents are here with us, we cannot imagine the loss..."
Voices chattered on the TV. Jen's grip tightened around her coffee. A young boy, only eleven-years-old, was killed in a Pokemon battle. What was supposed to be a friendly match with a friend, that friend got jealous, aggravated at his loss, and became violent.
Too many stories such as these were coming up in the news, and it was time for change. Therefore the government did just that; brought about a change that would alter the world forever.
"It's official. From here on, the minimum age to possess a Pokemon licence will be fifteen years of age. We hate to say it, but the world just isn't safe anymore for these kids at ten years of age wandering around. There's too much chaos out there, too many bad people raising bad Pokemon. If we send kids out in this, they probably won't return. It's no longer a world where kids can look forward to their tenth birthdays, heading out with their new partners and best friends on an adventure to learn more about the Pokemon world. This world has become dangerous, and change must come."
