"Get on the ground! You're being robbed!" A brutal man screamed after he had broken into our house. We all lie on the living room floor, my mother Toresa, my father Albert, my older brother Caleb, and me. As the man unlocked and opened the door, three other men, fully dressed in black came in with sacks that looked like pillow cases. Two of them unhooked our television and took it to their truck while the other two were taking priceless antiques, like my mother's 1947 typewriter and some old jewelry my mother gave me. As they left, the first robber from before went between my mother and brother, he whispered in my mother's ear, "I'll be back for you later, princess," then walked off to his truck laughing.
The next day my parents were frantic all around the house, placing food and water in one box, and clothing and blankets in another.
