Zero's POV

Get yourself together... Your not gonna cry in front of someone you just met.. That was a complement, so that's a good thing... Right?

Bay remains at her doorway with the door open, she stared at me.

"Are you okay..? You look like your about to-

I cut her off.

"I'm fine! I'm fine! T-Thank you for liking my gloves I just... I... I got to go!" I yell looking like a wierdo as I start to run down the hall, leaving Bay very confused at her doorway.

I feel bad for leaving her there, I really do. But I have to be alone for a while..

Hanging out will have to wait for now..

I'm finally out of sight from Bay and I'm leaning against a wall in an empty hallway.

"Damn." I think to myself. "If I almost cry at a comment like that what on earth is going to happen when someone says something about my scars??"

I let a single tear slip from my eye as I slid down the wall and onto the floor.

"No." I scold myself wiping the tear of my cheek. "Your not going to think of your dad, your not going to think of Victoria, your not going to think of all of the blood and you sure as hell are NOT going to cry."

I allow my mind to drift to other things, like Bay. She seemed nice enough, but... I'm not sure.. I mean she doesn't like Mello and if she knew I had a slight cru-

No!! d-did I really just think that?? I.. No there's no way.. Shut up brain!!

....he wouldn't like me anyways..

I think I should try to ignore that she dislikes Mello.. I shouldn't judge a person by who they like and who they don't.. I hope she does the same for me..

It may be hard to do so.. I just hope we don't get in any fights..

I'm still not sure about Near, I mean he seems nice, but is he really human?? Bay seems to like him, I saw her stare at him a lot during math, she didn't get many questions done so I couldn't even look off of her paper.. I know that's rude but my parents didn't enroll me in school so It's hard for me to understand math.

After all, I'm not sure why I'm in Wammy's, I can't be very intelligent.. I never went to school.

L has his reasons for bringing me I guess..

I'm calmed down now so I walk back to my room, but Near caught me off by calling my name.

"Zero?" He called.

I cringed at how calm his voice was.. No, be nice Zero..

"Yes? What is it Near?" I ask turning to look at the white haired boy.

"..Bay.. Do you think you two will become friends?" Near asked in a soft voice.

Huh? Why does he care? I mean-

Oh... I get it now...

Near likes Bay!!

How didn't I see this coming?? Oh man I knew something was up when she stared at him in Math, wait does this mean-

"Zero?" Near asked snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Huh? Oh, well yeah maybe. I don't know I just got here." I answered truthfully.

"...please be kind to her." Near replied as he walked past me and down the hallway.

I almost wanted to aww at how surprisingly sweet that was, I shouldn't say anything to Bay, it would embarrass her.

I know it would embarrass me if she knew how much I like mel-

"Don't you dare finish that sentence brain!!!" I mentally yell at myself. I'm not gonna fall that easily for someone. I began to continue walking to my room.

I'm stopped in my tracks by Matt running strait into me knocking the both of us to the floor.

"Matt?? What's going on? Why are you-"

Matt cut me off.

"Shhhh!!! Zero you gotta hide me!! I've really done it this time, just please before-"

"MATT!!!!" I hear Mello yell charging at him.

"Oh holy mother of Mario Cart Wii I'm so freaking dead!!!" Matt yells hiding behind me.

But it's too late, Mello already spotted him.

Matt tries to run but Mello grabs him by the shirt and looks him dead in the eyes..um..googles...

"Matt... I seriously don't know whether to kill you here now or give you the best friends discount and do it in your sleep.." Mello grunted blushing furiously out of anger as he held Matt by the shirt.

"I'm sorry!! Please just let me go!! You can dye my underwear pink too!! Then we'll be even!!" Matt begged.

Mello rolled his eyes. "You and I both know you already wear pink underwear.. That's not even what I'm pissed about!! You didn't tell a word to Zero about that little slip did you?!" Mello yelled as he tightened his grip.

"No!! I swear!!" Matt said as he squirmed out of his shirt.

Matt began to stand as he looked down to see he no longer had a shirt on, he slowly turned his head to see three girls and a guy about our age slowly back out of the hall making sure to get a good look at Matt's bare chest.

"G-Give it back!!" Matt whined blushing as red as his hair.

Mello laughed a bit.

"Okay, that was pretty entertaining so here, I guess you deserve this." Mello said chuckling as he tossed Matt his shirt.

Matt quickly put in on and walked to our room. "I'm just gonna go crawl in a hole and die now..." Matt said awkwardly.

"At least they seemed to enjoy the view!! Mostly that guy, he took the longest to back out of the room!" I yelled, which made Mello's laughter continue. I couldn't help but laugh a bit myself.

I looked over at Mello smiling slightly.

"...what?" Mello asked.

"I don't know, you don't laugh often, it's nice. I like hearing you laugh." I reply truthfully as i watch Mello's face turn a slight red.

"That's ridiculous. I hate my laugh anyways.. But it was nice to see you smile.. You should really smile more, it's pretty."

My eyes widen a bit at what Mello says and I turn my face so he can't see my face blush, which I do very easily due to my pale skin.

"Come on, I didn't even say anything blush worthy!" Mello said already seeing my face.

"You one to talk, your blushing too!!" I say walking next to him.

"We'll at least I have a reason to do so, for me to say anything to you shouldn't be worth a blush." Mello says shaking his head as he looks to the floor.

Mello and I didn't talk much the way back.

But, And I may be wrong here, I think I saw a girl with black hair and blue tips watch the whole thing from behind her door.. And if so..

Was my crush on Mello obvious??
