How could it have come to this? She felt like she had betrayed her beloved friend all because of that damn pink-haired idiot! It was her duty to support her friends through anything and she wanted to support her friend Lisanna so badly, but her heart wouldn't permit it, at least not anymore.
"I'm such a horrible friend." Lucy said as she sat in the coffee shop and looked out the window. She was currently waiting for Lisanna to meet up with her so she could confront her about the subject.
"Here is your coffee." A waitress served a coffee down before Lucy said thank you, in an absentminded state and returned to staring out the window. She reached over immediately and tried to take a sip from her drink but immediately pulled away when the hot coffee burned her tongue, "Ouch!" She yelped rather loudly and caught some other's attention. She embarrassingly sank into her seat, "Damn...I'm too nervous about what I'm going to say... I'm not thinking clearly." Her words turned into a mumble as she looked down at the blasted beverage.
"Hey...Lucy?" The sweet voice of the animal takeover Mage could be heard which made Lucy jump slightly in her seat. Lisanna eyed her questionably because of the intense look Lucy was giving the coffee drink just moments ago.
Lucy's eyes softened to a sorrowful expression as she recalled why she asked Lisanna to meet her here. Lisanna chuckled slightly as she took a seat across from Lucy, "What's with the sad look? That's not how you usually look." Lisanna tried to brighten the atmosphere but her attempt failed as Lucy averted her eyes and gripped her drink tightly. This worried Lisanna and soon uncertainty took over her, however, she tried to keep the smile on her, "C'mon Lucy..." She said before her smile diminished, "Seriously, what's going on?" Worry could be heard in her tone this time.
Lucy looked down as she recalled everything that led to this. Natsu and Lucy were as close as can be, best friends even. Lucy never considered him as anything more and was sure their friendship would stay as platonic as it could be. However, Lisanna, a childhood friend of his, who was supposedly dead, returned from Edolas.
Lucy and Lisanna had grown rather close, and opened up with each other quite a bit...It wasn't that long ago that Lisanna confessed to Lucy about her feelings for Natsu. Even at the time, it bother Lucy a bit, but she shook it off and told Lisanna that she would support her through and through. However, there was one event that made all that change.

It was nearing during winter and Lisanna had gone out on a job with her siblings, like usual. Lucy hadn't seen much of Natsu, apparently the idiot had gone out on solo jobs with Happy recently which didn't benefit her or her rent. Lucy sighed as she strolled down the town square. Winter was truly beautiful, fluffy white snow covered the landscape and Christmas lights made the city glow with glee. The giant Christmas tree in the middle of the park made Lucy's heart pound with delight. The holidays affected her in a way that she couldn't explain and she loved every second of it. She neared a bakery and looked through the glass to see the baked goods set perfectly on a stand.
"'Mira should be coming home soon, if I buy some goods now, it'll save her from over baking tomorrow during Christmas." Lucy smiled as she imagined celebrating the day with the rest of the guild mates tomorrow, "I bet Natsu will eat them all anyways." She chuckled slightly from her remark.
"Whatchu say about me?" Lucy heard a familiar voice and turned around to face a certain dragon slayer with his signature grin.
"I thought you were out on a job." Lucy said.
"Finished as fast as possible to return for Christmas. You didn't think I'd miss this." He said as cheerfully as ever and Lucy couldn't help but move her gaze to the velvet box he held.
"What's that?" She raised a brow and Natsu immediately hid the object behind his back.
"Nothing!" He said rather quickly and Lucy could've sworn a pink color began dusting his cheeks.
"Natsu!" Lucy said as she placed her hands on her hips and leaned forward, as if demanding him to hand over the box. Natsu realized that Lucy was deadset on discovering what was inside the box, he hesitantly took it from behind his back and presented it to her.
"Thank you!" Lucy smiled in triumph as she grabbed the box and proceed to open it until she saw a necklace with a glistening brown gem and yellowish chain. Her eyes popped as soon as she saw the Hearts Cruz logo, jewelry by that company tended to be rather expensive, something as measly as this could be up to 10,000 jewels! , "A-A Christmas gift? Who for?" Lucy stuttered at the shock of realizing the brand name as she looked back and forth between the necklace and Natsu. Natsu gulped and looked away nervously, which was contradictory to his usual self and began scratching the back of his head.
"It was suppose to be for you, but you had to ask for it now." Natsu crossed his arms as he began to act as his usual self again, "Couldn't ya be a little patient?" He asked.
Lucy looked dumbfounded and failed to answer his question, she starred down at the necklace and didn't raise her gaze to meet Natsu's which made him raise a brow, "Only a weirdo would look at it as intensely as yo-." Natsu said until he was thrown off balance when Lucy jumped off the ground to hug him.
"Natsu! Thank you! That's the sweetest gift ever." Lucy couldn't sound more grateful and Natsu hesitantly returned the hug but did so anyways, "It was nothing." He replied.
"Natsuuu-" the voice of a familiar blue exceed could be heard which caused them to slowly break apart from the embrace and turn their attention to the location of the sound.
Happy flew toward them carrying a takeout bag from a grocery store nearby, "I finally decided on my gift for Carla!" He said excitedly, "It's going to be fi-" he was cutoff when he saw Lucy holding the necklace, "I thought you were going to give it to her tomorrow!"
"She would've gotten angry if I didn't give it to her now! And we know how scary Lucy could be when she's angry." Natsu defended his case which earned him a smack on his shoulder from the blonde.
A lightbulb lit up above Happy and a mischievous smile painted his lips as he neared Lucy and whispered in her ear, "Did he tell you why he chose that gift for you?" Happy whispered in a sly voice, however Natsu's sensitive hearing picked up on it and be scrambled to grab Happy. However, Happy dodged his hands and flew high enough for Natsu not to reach him, "He said that the chain reminded him of your hair and that the brown gem resembled your beautiful eyes." Natsu's eyes popped when Happy revealed that and was undoubtably embarrassed, however he didn't deny that he said those things. Happy flew away and Natsu, in order to avoid this subject any further, began chasing down the blue cat and calling out to him, which made them both leave Lucy behind.
They both failed to see Lucy's rosy blush that dusted her cheeks and nervous expression after the information behind the necklace was revealed. She looked down at the necklace and felt her heart skip a beat.
She had avoided any feelings she may have had for the dragon slayer before because she sure didn't want to be a problem to Lisanna. She promised she'd support her in her attempts to make Natsu her's.

"Sorry Lisanna..." She said in a miserable tone as she looked at the beautiful gift, "...But I... I love him too..."

"Lisanna, I have to tell you the truth." Lucy said as she finally looked directly into the takeover mage's eyes. Lisanna didn't respond but listened intently at Lucy's words.
"It's about Natsu," Lucy paused as she looked down at her now cooled drink, "I...I have feelings for him too...And I can't support you anymore... Not when I wanna try to be with him too..." Lucy couldn't help but feel like crap when she revealed that, she even had a hard time looking up at Lisanna.
"He's really great! Isn't he! I could see why someone else would like him too! It's about time people acknowledge how great Natsu truly is!" Lisanna said in such a cheerful tone, she didn't seemed bothered by this whatsoever.
"Lisanna..." Lucy looked confused before Lisanna stood up from her seat, she was sure that Lisanna wouldn't take it to well. Two friends
"I'm going to the restroom! Order me a latte, ok?" She hurried to the restroom before Lucy could respond.

As Lisanna made it to the vacant restroom, she felt tears crumble in her eyes and spill out, "She's closer to him... I'm sure it'll work out." Lisanna had truthfully been scared that Lucy may have had feelings for Natsu, she thought if Lucy had gotten to support her, then things could've turned out fine. Despite the tears that fell, she managed to smile slightly as she looked at herself in the mirror and wiped away the tears, "...But it must've been hard for her to tell me..." Lisanna had felt grateful that Lucy had trusted their friendship enough that she was willing to tell her such things, things that could've potentially ruined everything.
As Lisanna finished wiping away the tears, she exited the restroom and made her way back.
"Did I take long?" She said in her usual happy tone.
Lucy's eyes widened, Lisanna's eyes were slightly red, as if she had just cried... and it was all her fault, "I ordered you latte like you asked." She said as she avoided bringing up the subject and Lisanna crying.

It was the second time that Lucy had asked to meet Lisanna in private, but this time outside the guild hall. Since Lucy had told Lisanna about her feelings for Natsu, it had become a touchy subject between them. Lucy felt guilty everytime she went out with Natsu on a mission, but she couldn't just say no. In regards to Lisanna's feelings, she did back off a little from Natsu, but this was contradictory to her own feelings! This whole situation was mental suicide.
Lisanna stood across from Lucy as she struggled to get out her words. "Hey Lucy, why did you call me out here?" Lisanna questioned.
"This whole situation! It...It isn't working out!" Lucy finally managed to say, "I feel bad everytime I go somewhere with Natsu but I can't help but want to indulge in it!" Lucy finally said.
"Lucy..." Lisanna said sadly, she had truly been jealous of how much more time Lucy gets to spend with Natsu, and knows what paths it's headed too, "You're over thinking this... Just do what you want and don't think of me..."
"I want to," Lucy bit her lip as she turned away from Lisanna, "I love Natsu and you love Natsu, but only one of us can end up with him... This is too hard... But Lisanna..." Lucy turned around to reveal the tears that threatened to fall, "I love you too! You're my friend, you mean so much to me too and I can't lose you!"
Lisanna took a moment to register everything before tears built up in her eyes as well, "Lucy-!" She said before collided into a tight embrace and dried each other's tears on their cloth.
"I won't hold back any longer with Natsu." Lucy admitted
"And when I get chances, I won't hold back either." Lisanna said, as if agreeing to her terms as long as Lucy agreed to her's.
"But in the end, I won't give you up either."
