AN: I'm having trouble with this chapter, but I feel you deserve something so this is the beginning of one version of chapter ten.
"It's been weeks since Desmond and I have hung out. We're still working on our assignment, but only at the school, and it's now the common Romeo and Juliet death scene." My eyes mist slightly as I try to explain my situation to Jamie and Theo. Theo leans heavily against the counter, his arms crossed over his bare chest. Jamie has a hand on my knee, her toned body obviously not as cared for because she's just in a sports bra and shorts.
"I...." My voice breaks and Jamie squeezes my knee while Theo pushes off the counter, leaving the kitchen.
I stare after him, my eyes holding hurt, "He'll be back, Maxx. He just doesn't like seeing you hurting. You are his favorite adopted sister." She nudges me gently. "Now that he's gone we can make comfort food!" I crack a small smile as she goes to the fridge.
"I want chocolate on it this time." She nods and cranks the radio up, her upper body disappears into the fridge as she looks for the taco meat and shells we keep made for depressing times like these.
She pulls out, her arms full of containers. I laugh openly and stand to help her
