The Move

Old city has always been my home. I've always lived here and it's all I know. When I was told I was going to move I felt like my whole world was going to break apart. At 16 years old, why was I being made to move? "Mum! But why? I'll just live here by myself!"

My mother quickly replied, "No, you can't. You are going to go live with your father. It's all been arranged and I'm sorry. There's no changing it."

Why Mum? Why was she sending me away? "But..."

"No (y/n), there's no buts. I'm leaving and you can't come with me. Therefore you must go live with your father. You're leaving at 5pm today so get dressed and go say bye to the people you want to say bye to."

I wanted to shout at her. I wanted to scream at her but if I only had a few hours I should quickly say bye to my friend. Tears ran down my face as I stormed upstairs to my room to get dressed.

I threw on a cute top and a cute pair of shorts.  (authors note- to see the outfit click on the external link button at the bottom :))

I applied some light make up just to cover up my swollen eyes from crying. I also put on a little mascara which is just a habit. I didn't like wearing too much make up anyway, that's just the type of girl I am. I put my shoes on and then ran out of the house. I wasn't even going to look at my mum. I walked along to the street and quickly texted my best friend. I asked her to meet me at "Old City  Park", the park of our childhood.

In Old City, America we have a saying. "The sloth won't tumble down the road until you feed it a cactus." I take this saying to heart and repeat it to myself when I feel stressed. It means "don't be lazy and go forward in life, even if you get hurt in the end." I felt a lot like that sloth right now.

I had finally reached the park and saw my friend Underpantha in the park. "Underpantha" I shouted. She saw me and waved. I then shouted "God bless Old City! God bless Old City!" This was the usual greeting in Old City and the mayor had made a law that we all said this to each other. "God bless Old City! God bless Old City!" Underpantha replied.
"So why did you call me out here (y/n)? Why so sudden?"
"Underpantha...I'm moving!"
"Oh I get it and you want help packing. Well, what area of Old City are you moving to?"
"No.... Underpantha, I'm moving out of Old City!!"
"Out of Old City? Well where then, surely not too far?"
A tear slipped down my cheek. "Hey (y/n)? Don't cry! What's the matter? You're worrying me."
"I'm moving to New City!"
"Ahh!!" Underpantha screamed. She then slapped me. It's was okay though, we had that sort of relationship.

I rubbed my cheek and felt the soothing soreness. I was going to miss Underpather's slaps. She mumbled a sorry and then reached into her back pocket. I closed my eyes, I couldn't bear to look at her hurt expression. The next thing I felt was someone prying my mouth open and then tooth paste being put inside. Then someone began brushing around my mouth. "I've always wanted to brush the teeth of someone from New City. Seeing as you're moving there." I smiled a knowing smile at her. She felt my pain. The same searing pain you feel go through your heart when you drop your favourite Starbucks drink. "I'm gonna miss you." I spoke softly, while spitting out bits of toothpaste. Underpantha looked at me through her tainted glasses. "I'm going to miss you more". The both of us then began to sob and hug each other. I gripped Underpantha's leather top. I held it tightly because I knew this would be the last time I ever felt it.

"Now, are you all ready (y/n)?". Ugh, I hated my mum's voice. That fake tone of caring that was evident. I blanked her and simply walked past her to go speak with Underpantha. We were at the train station waiting for me to board my train. "(y/n), promise me you will text me everyday and that you will call me if anything big happens. Always tell me what is going on, ok?" She questioned loudly. I drew my left hand back and then slapped her right across the face. I made sure it would leave a bruise. She fell onto the floor and we both laughed. I loved her and she knew that. Our friendship would last for a lifetime. "All passengers boarding the train to New City please board now. Once again, please board now."
"That my train!" I said. My mum tried to hug me but I pushed her off me and ran towards the train. Stupid woman. Leave me alone. "Bye (y/n)!!! Make sure to come back. And bring back some hot boyfriend as well. It's said that stars are all over the place in New City." I laughed a hearty laugh at Underpantha's joke.
"Of course I will."
"And make sure to tell your father I say hi." My mum added.
"Go die in a hole!" I shouted back at her. She got the message and then kept her mouth shut. (;/)

The train's horn sounded, signalling the train was about to depart. I took out my handkerchief and waved it out the window. "Bye Underpantha! I will try to come back and visit! That's if the woman who claims to be my mother will let me."
"Bye (y/n)!!!". The train moved away from the station all too quickly. I waved one last time till I settled back into my seat. There was no going back now I guess. "Ermagawd I love him too he's so hot!!!".
"I know right what a hottie!!!".

Some girls near me were shouting loudly about some hot celebrity. I hated fan girls soo much. Just be quiet and like whoever you like quietly. I laid back with my bag and back pack next to me and fell asleep wondering what my life in New City will be like.
