Be Her

Just the other day

I was your all

Your one and only

Now I see

The truth that lied beneath

It was cover

A disguise

A facade

The man I loved

Was never really mine

Stuck in a world of denial

You yearn for her

Her superficial touch

You worship her

A goddess but only your eyes

I was her replacement

I'm not a proxy

And I don't wanna be the next Roxy

Had me confused and dazed

Blamed myself for every mistake you made

I believed your lies

Because I thought I had the prize

Every touch

Every kiss

Every hug

You closed your eyes and wished I was her

But you never figured out that I was better than her

See you made me look a fool but you are a fool

I treated you better

Loved you better

But I still wasn't her

I will not compete with a dream

Aint got to stand and watch you love what was

Cause baby guess what ?

I am what is !

I'm for now and forever

Compare and contrast

Your obsession with her

And your fixation that I could be her

I don't want to be a duplicate , a copy

I don't want to look in the mirror and see her

I don't want to be a backup or temporary lover

But most importantly I don't want to be her
