Dying Embers.
Prologue
Shiloh's P.O.V
I stared at the orange sunrise, this would be my last time. Everyone’s last time. I scanned the cliff top, amazed at the number of people standing there, The back line of the crowd all stood hand in hand – the peace keepers, but their jobs never worked, proven by what the world is like these days, it was as if it was panting for its last breaths, heaving at what little atmosphere it had. Most ‘Humans’ had a chip inserted into the side of their necks, so they had their own little atmosphere to breath, Me, Jay and Dan just simply survived on what little air the was left. Now a days it was probably safer to live on the moon! But of course we couldn’t get there, all travel to different continents had been banned. Let alone the moon. The solar system had stopped all orbit, and the only safe place to be was in the US. Of course the worlds population couldn’t all fit on here, so they let the poorer of the population die off, practically freeze to death. I was sickened to hear that the population was down to 3 billion, absolutely disgraced! I pulled out my old Samsung, people thought I was crazy, the inserted chip had its own messaging device that ran purely on peoples brain power, No one had phones any more, of course, I can’t trust the peace keepers to shove a miniature computer under my skin, not after what they did to Mom and Dad. I rung Dan and Jay to find out where they were “Guys!” I exclaimed “Where the hell are you?!” I asked
“Behind the PK’s, go right to the end of the left side and you can get round the last one, he’s a bit dopey!” Jay said, almost in hysterics at the memory of the poor man,
“Mmmkay...” I mumbled and pressed the End Call button. I made my way towards the left side, waiting for what the day had instore.
