Al'heera Ferguson
The blasting music surrounding me made my heart bump harder than usual, I'd been standing in the same place for a while now. The lights flickered changing different colors every 5 seconds, I counted the intermission in between each color change. And they'd also played 5 Chris Brown songs since I'd been here and that was about an 1 hour ago. They started off with Loyal when I first entered with my friends and now they're playing Sex you to Sleep. Thoughts roamed around every inch of my brain, from why I came here to why I ate that nasty soup my friend made about 3 days ago. Had my stomach doing multiple flips for about 2 days. I looked around in hopes of finding my friends, maybe I could force them to take me home.
After a while I gave up and made my way to the bar, before I could make it I was stopped. "Let me buy you a drink. You've been standing in that spot over there for over an hour, babygirl. You need to loosen up" A small sensation rang down my spine, as his mellow voice whispered into my ear. I quickly tucked my bottom lip as I was led to the bar by this guy. He stood about 6'1, caramel skin, locks that were dyed blonde at the tip with a bold tattoo that marked"SOUTHSIDE" on his neck. I must admit, he was very good-looking and something about him peaked my interest. If any other man had approached me that way, I would've sure as hell ran for the hills. Something about him, the way he carried himself assured me that he wasn't a kidnapper or anything. He seemed like a very humble man, under all the drugs, alcohol & what seemed like depression that masked him. Masked what he truly was.
"You went into oblivion that quick on me, ma?" This man said tapping me yelling over the music. A small chuckle left my mouth as I shook my head before speaking.
"I'm just trying to figure you out, that's all. You ask me something?" He nodded
"Yeah, Didn't know what you wanted to drink but I just got you a glass of Henny." A smile formed on my face 'That's exactly what I wanted' I thought to myself
"So, 'Stranger' you're from the Southside, huh? Southside Chicago i'm guessing" Standing up from the stool chair he sat at he stood next to me. "Musics too loud, huh?" I said by his ear, he looked at me nodding.
"But yeah, I'm from the Southside of Chicago. You? And It's Hakeem, my name"
"I'll tell you what, If we somehow end up outside of this club together. I'll show you something" Confusion masked his face. "Trust me on it, it'll answer your question" I said whispering into his ear as I looked into the crowd. He nodded facing the bar
"Your two Hennys" The bartender said handing Hakeem the two drinks, he thanked them giving him his tip
"Drink up, Stranger"
"Al'heera." I said before downing my drink, my eyes shut immediately when the burning sensation made its way down my throat. After a couple of minutes my body became warmer and I felt happier, Hakeem looked at me with wide eyes, making me shrug.
"Dance with me." A smile instantly formed on my face, I really wanted to dance especially after downing all that Henny in a small amount of time. I grabbed onto his hand ashe guided me onto the dance floor. As we began to dance I was still was shy, my buzz didn't really change that. "Don't be so stiff, move yo hips" A sensation tingled down my spine, making me close my eyes as he whispered into my ear wrapping his arms around my waist. I sighed breaking out of my shell, and began dancing. The music rang my ears making me block out every thing else that may have surrounded me. After a while, Hakeem and I danced in sync. Song after song, we just danced no matter the artist or genre we found a way to make it work. It felt nice around him, he had a vibe that attached me to him. I never wanted, even for a second to be around a vibe that felt different. I'd fallen strong for the hold he'd had around me, literally. His warm hands felt like a protection against everything else. All we knew were each others names, I'd met him less than 2 hours ago and there we were with what seemed like chemistry that had been built over the many years we'd been living. Two shots after we'd found ourselves ready to leave this place.
