CHAPTER ONE
"Come in" I said to whoever that was knocking at the door.
For Christ sakes, I was already late and someone is banging at my door like a mad person.
I don't have time for such shit.
I'm on my way to the biggest interview of my life that will change my living situation for good.
Ever since I graduated from School, I have been job hunting. And until now, I haven't been called for an interview.
I am living in one if those shitty houses with poor everything. You just name it. But I have to manage till I get a job. Which is on my top priority list.I suddenly heard my old door squeak waking me up from my reverie. Reminding me where I was and I had told someone to come in.
I gasped as I saw a tall , intimidating man who was wearing the most tattered of all dresses I ever saw. He sure was tall with a beard almost as long as my short ponytail. And his hair looked like a little forest. I have never seen him before and I had no idea who he was. He had the most piercing eyes which seems like it could see through your soul. Truth be told,he looked like one of those ancient vampires.
From my looking at him he looked like one who hasn't had a shower a decade ago and smelled that way too.I cleared my throat . I refuse to be intimidated in my own house. I stood up from where I was trying to get my shoes from. And walked towards him. Up close I decided that he didn't look all that bad and a bath and change of cloths would do the magic.
"What do you want?" I asked.
He didn't say anything.
I repeated it again. Still no reply.
That got me thinking ,maybe he was deaf. And I tried to use sign language still a blank look was on his face. Like he didn't understand my language or something.
I then decided to try my luck by speaking French. Cause, that's the only other language I know.
He then replied me in French.
"Whoosh" I let out a breath.
Thank God.
He told me that he was lost and needed to a place to stay till he is healed. Only then did I look at his leg to realise blood oozing out from a cut.
I mentally cringed.
I was brought up never to turn a stranger in need and I was due for an interview in .............. I just checked 30 mins.
How am I gonna do this I asked myself?
I then remembered his bleeding leg and sighed . I knew I could not leave him alone. And with luck, I might be able to make it right on time. Then something said to me, Time waits for no one.
I then told him to sit down. I took my first aid kit and started doing my magic."Would you mind explaining to me how you got this wound?" I asked him.
He told me that some people duped him and ran away with his money taking him to an in unknown country. And while fighting they stabbed him with a knife. He sounded so tired. And Good naturedly I allowed him to rest on my bed since I lived in a one room apartment. He honestly needed to rest.
He lost so much blood. It's a wonder he was able to walk to my house.I asked him if he was hungry and all. He then told me yes.
Stupid me. A man looking like that, won't he need food?
I knew I was just trying to avoid preparing anything because of time.
Shit. 15 more mins.
This is it. This is my life.
Why must life always be like this?I prepared the most easiest thing I know how to prepare which was noodles. I then told him I was going for an interview.
He asked if he could stay here for 1 week till he heals.
I hesitated a moment then said yes.I know that's not the most smartest thing to do but what could I do,?
I mean I can't just let him go. He knows no one. And he cant do anything because of his leg.
The cut was really deep.
But nothing a nurse can't handle.
I mean what harm can there be in allowing a stranger who is injured into your home?
Besides he said he needs only one week to get his strength back.
Besides 1 week of doing a kind deed can't change anything in me.
Right?I know its short. But it will get better. To find out what will happen please vote and comment. It will encourage me to write more.
Thanks.
