The Beginning

I woke up in the hospital one day, unsure of where I was. What I was, who I was. It ends up I'm a normal person. Everything about me is normal, except I can't see. Everything is black and unnoticable. My memory is a blur, I can't see anything from the past. No memories or dreams. Just blackness.

My dad came to pick me up from the hospital two weeks ago. It ends up that I took a bad fall and had hit my head on concrete pretty hard. It didn't feel like that. It just feels like I just came into life. My dad told me it would feel like that, but my memory would come back. But I wasn't so sure.

He doesn't think I should go to the first day of school. But how could I miss it? I'm well and smart enough to care for myself and know where to go. If I don't I'll just get help. I'm going to a regular school. I argued with my dad for awhile. He wanted to send me to a blind school. I'm not doing that. I'm a cival person who can go to a regular school like everyone else.

I heard my alarm clock go off and knew it was 6:00, time to get up. My dad had set it for me and it helps a lot. My hand trailed to the off button. I was so familiar with it already I didn't need help. I pushed myself off the bed my feet hitting the ground. The rug that I had was soft, like bunny fur.

I worked my way around easily to my desk top. My hands searched for the cloth of the close my dad set out for me. Ya I know, a bit embarrasing, but hey. It's really helpful. My fingers figured out the shapes of my close and fumbled with them until I found the right one I needed. In no time, I had everything on.

My room was very spacious and had nothing in it except a bed and a desk. Which I knew where both were. Walking through my door, I hugged the wall walking a bit slow. I've gotten used to my room, but not the rest of the house. I figured out pretty quickly to hug the left wall at all times.

I had tried the right wall for the first time and ran into a counter top. It ended up that my dad had moved everything to the right side so I knew to hug the left wall. And of course, when I got home, he forgot to tell me about his arrangment.

I made my way to the bathroom getting the only tooth brush in the holder and skimmed my hand over the sink counter until I found the tooth paste. I opened the lid and put the tooth paste squerter part on the brushes on my tooth brush. I then squeezed, feeling as the tooth paste came out.

I quickly found my cup and filled it with water, dipping the brush end of my thooth brush in the water. And in a few quick seconds, started brushing my teeth. I brushed, rinsed, brushed, rinsed, brushed, and then rinsed one more time. I cleaned my tooth brush under the running water.

I had a bouncy walk along the left side of the wall and met my dad at the door. He was always waiting for me. Right on time everyday. He grabbed my hand and led me to the car and led me in the passengers seat. He handed me my backpack and lunch and closed the door, going to the drivers seat.

I reached for the seat belt getting it the first try and buckled it slowly. By then, the car was pulling out of the drive. My dad didn't say anything. We usually rode to school or anywhere in silence. It took about what seemed twenty minutes until he parked the car. We were here.
