I know a girl, she can't be fixed
Since she was young they've known something's off
Not quite like the others-
A tad defective here, a bit of oddness there
Hard as they tried, she simply wasn't normal
For all their lectures and silences, pep-talks and put-downs,
It was clear she would never improve
Her eventual decline, the loss of sanity
Came as a shock to those who would claim to love her
It seemed her state worsened by the hour
So the day she snapped, it /wasn't/ a surprise
Came in through the back and scribbled a note
Slashed her wrists with one of the kitchen knives
Days later in the hospital, recovery was slow
Nobody thought she'd get better on her own
"Swallow these pills, they'll numb your mind,
And keep you safe from yourself, just for awhile"
Therapy was daily, the leash was pulled tight
Still, the months seemed almost the same- Just with a different name
Eventually, even that began to fade
All that is left is the shell you see today
They couldn't fix her...
And neither can you.
