I wake up in an alleyway the stench of blood and rot filling my nose. I look up and see a tall man standing above me.
"how do you feel" he asks with a strange accent... I dont reply, but just look at him. "of course, my apologies you probably remember nothing of what happened. i am your creator, my name is Elliott Johnsen. Do you remember your name?" "y-yes." I replied. My throat was dry and voice raspy. "would you care to tell me as proof?" The man asked. "it's"... I coughed my throat was killing me i tried again. "my name is, Renee grey"
"Good you remember! I chose you for a great reason, your a very unique human, well was anyway but now, now your a very special vampire."
My eyes go wide. This guy must be insane! a vampire! Are you kidding me!
"i know how it may sound to you, and your probably very weak. Are you hungry, or thirsty?" He said it in a strange fatherly way, and for some reason i felt like i could trust him. i barley reply "yea."
The man grabs my hands and helps me up i almost fall to the floor right away. How can i trust him? For all i know he was some creep who drugged me last night and did who knows what to me. But the look in his eyes were comforting. His eyes. They were a strange color of deep red with black around the edges. Maybe it was because it was dark or something that his eyes looked that way, but they were so magnificent...so mesmerizing.
Elliott led me to a park full of people many of them looked my age maybe a bit younger, Perhaps 15 or 16. As we got closer my heart rate sped up and my gums throbbed. It was exiting! Yet i didnt completely understand what was going to happen, i mean in the back of my head i did but, I guess my new vampire self was already taking over.
Elliott looked at me with amazement and wonder. He told to me that what i was about to do, was how i was supposed to survive the rest if my life. After he finished his whole speech about what people were the best to hunt and how to tell them apart from the ones who wouldn't be missed, along with the different blood types there were, he explained the hunt. That's when i got scared, not like scared of this new life and what i would have to do to survive but scared of hurting people when i don't mean or want to.
"hunting is very simple, after the first few times you get used to the hunt and what blood types you like. Along with telling the difference between people who will be missed or not." He whispered it to me like people could hear.
"what if i dont want to hurt people?"
"then dont! You dont have to hurt people. You have experienced a bite your self. you dont remember a thing."
I thought for a second. "then why do i need to know the difference between people who will be missed or not?"
He stood there and his eyes looked sad. Finally he said "just in case you do hurt someone by accident."
After a minute or so his eyes returned to normal and a devious smile creped over his face. "the trick to hunting." He said "is to be quick and stealthy, but also lure them in. Concentrate on a person look at their facial expressions and you can tell if they will be missed also concentrating on someone will give them an urge to come towards you."
He pointed to a woman sitting on a bench. "see her, she's sitting alone, her eyes look empty and desperate for someone to notice her. she wont be missed."
I saw it, the emptiness and sadness of no one caring. He continued.
"That man over there, he will be missed" he pointed to a man wearing a suit and talking on the phone, he had a smile on his face and looked like maybe he was talking to a kid on the other side of the call.
"now you try."
I looked around the park and saw a boy about a year older then i was standing in the back of a group of people. It was obvious they were the outcasts in school, i mean its easy to tell, but i guess that could be because i was... Or am too. I felt bad for the boy i know exactly how he feels, to be the outcast of outcasts, to never have any true friends. He wouldn't be missed.
I realized i was staring at him, and Elliott was looking at me with that ooo you like him look.
"what" i asked smiling.
He shook his head smiling back at me, rolling his eyes. "young love," he laughs "i can tell you admire him."
I looked back at the boy. He was very gorgeous in his black skinny jeans, converse, and suicide silence shirt. His hair covered his eyes and had red through it, just like my whole punk rocker look with my band merch, skinny jeans, and converse.
This guy was allot like me and i could tell even when i hadn't talk to him. . . And now i want to talk to him. I stood up fixed my hair and began to walk towards him, but Elliott pulled me back.
"you can't talk to him, you haven't fed yet, your hunger may take control and you might hurt him without wanting to."
That sad look came back on his face and disappeared again as Elliott led me into the alley. My blood was on the ground in a small puddle. Elliott took out a vile from his pocket and filled it with the blood on the ground, placed it back in his pocket and looked at the sky.
"i have to go, I've taught you how to hunt and now your on your own, the sun is rising." He placed a ring in my hand and told me to where it at all times, that it will help me with strong urges to feed, along with my encounters with other vampires.
I looked up at him."wait why did you put my blood in a vile?"
"im curious, i want to know if what i think is true, so i will be running some tests. Now i have to go ill send a friend to help you out with things, i think you will like him."
Elliott walked out of the alley while i just stood there looking at the ring in my hand. I ran around the corner after him, i had so many questions and he was just going to leave? He wasn't anywhere in sight. Of course he was gone. so again i looked at the ring. It was a beautiful blood red color with black running through the gem. the ring it self looked like lace around my finger, very beautiful.
I walked out of the alley and over to the group of outcasts. If the ring could help with strong urges to feed i should be able to talk to that guy, im not hungry or anything so i should be fine. Once i got closer my stomach started growling and my gums throbbed again but i pushed on. I finally got over to the boy and tapped him on the shoulder.
"hi, im Renee, and your very gorgeous so here is my number i have to go other wise i would talk more but i cant."
I wrote my phone number on his hand quickly with a pen from my pocket and walked off glancing back. He hadnt really realized what happened but once he did he smiled and yelled out to me saying he liked my shirt. I glanced down to see what shirt i was wearing and realized it had been my suicide silence shirt as well.
Walking home the sunlight hit my hands and left a burn on them i pulled my sleeves over them and put my hood up. This is going to suck. I got to my block and saw that my parents weren't home. My luck keeps getting better, hopefully they think i was sleeping and just left my door closed. Walking up the steps i realized i didnt have my key for the door, so i had to walk around the house and get the key under a rock in my moms garden;which is completely dead.
i got to the door, unlocked it, and went straight upstairs to my room where i fell asleep immediately.
