June 1st.

Today is the last day of school, thank the Lord Jesus. I've never been a fan of walking tubes of lipstick or talking footballs. To be honest I've got my group of friends and that's all I need. There are six of us, different ages and grade levels.

There's Chloe, a junior who is one of the funniest girls I've ever met. Then there's  Liam, the exchange student from England. He's a senior and is so in love with Chloe it's disgusting. Chloe is the one who had a crush on Liam the first day in, but when they started dating at the start of the school year he fell faster than she did by a long shot.

Then there's Layne, who is a junior and so smart it's like she's a computer. She's been in love with the same guy since 6th grade. That's Seth, who has loved her since his freshman year. He's a Senior now. They spend as much time together as they possibly can. They're almost as bad as Chloe and Liam, but that's nearly impossible.

Then there's me, who is lonelier than Harry Potter after the 6th book. That's when Ron and Hermione get together, for those of you who don't know that. To get back on track, I've only dated douchebags but that was in middle school, so now I'm over it. I'm a junior and haven't dated since Christmas of my 8th year. But I have my cats so I think I'm good. For now.

The last of the group is Kyle. Seth saw him sitting by himself and had him come sit with us about a week ago, him and I haven't talked much. I know he's shy, but gorgeous. He's got short blond hair that he likes to run his fingers through. His eyes are bright green, matching the leaf of a tulip. He isn't muscular, but he isn't chubby. He's also about 6'0. A large contrast to my 5'3 body.

I'm broken out of my thoughts as I hear the loud ring of the lunch bell, causing me to nearly shout in joy. I'm the first to leave the classroom, slinging my bag over my shoulder and walking briskly towards Chloe's locker. She only goes there before lunch, just so she can put her stuff down so she doesn't have to carry it.

When I reach her locker, Layne and Seth are already there, looking at each other with the biggest heart eyes I've ever seen. I roll my eyes and slam myself into the locker beside her. Layne and Seth look over in amusement, Chloe letting out an amused huff.

"What's got your knickers in a bunch?" she asks, smiling sarcastically at me. I roll my eyes, looking behind me to make sure a teacher wasn't around.

"Fucking Boomer yelled at me for not paying attention in class. Though, I guess its not that big of a deal. It's the last day of school so I'm happy as can be. Side note, never say knickers again." I ramble slightly, every so often looking at Layne and Seth to make sure they hadn't started making out. Though, it's not them I should be worried about. Sometimes I get so embarrassed being around Chloe and Liam. No explanation needed.

"Let's go, I need food!" Seth grumbles, taking hold of Layne's hand, I notice Layne blush as Seth rubs his thumb over her knuckles. That's gross. Before I can comment Kyle walks up beside me and smiles softly at me. I feel my heart jump, but it's probably just because he's normally so shy. That's it. Obviously.

"Uh, guys, Liam? Where is he?" Chloe asks, worry very evident in her voice. On most days, Liam is the first one to Chloe's locker. And he never misses school. Like, ever. All of us have been worried about Liam, he's going back to England at the end of July. He's been in America every school year since Sophomore year. We might never see him again.

"Maybe he had to go to his locker?" Seth suggests, but I watch as Chloe's eyes dart behind me and she lurches forward and latches herself onto the person behind me. I don't have to turn around to know its Liam. I hear his deep voice, but I don't pay attention to what he's saying. I already know its something like baby I'm sorry, I'll never do that again.

"Let's go eat!" Kyle complains, his voice smooth and deep. I nod in agreement and we all turn towards the direction of the cafeteria. As were walking I keep seeing Kyle look at me from the corner of my eyes. He smiles a little bit each time. He's weird, but I like it. I don't like him, of course, not like that. Obviously...

Lunch goes slow, a different conversation every 30 seconds. I don't pay much attention until I hear let's go to a film from Liam. I glance up at him, a skeptical look evident on my face.

"I'm not going to a movie just so you guys can fondle each other in the seat next to me." I grumble, ignoring the tingle I feel on my arm when Kyle leans against me gently. No one else seems to have noticed. Chloe's face erupts, like it normally does, she blushes at everything. Especially when it comes to Liam. That boy does things to her That I can't explain.

"We aren't going to... Fondle each other." Chloe says, grinning at me. "Just watch the film. Movie, I meant movie." I ignore Liam's beaming smile, his quiet. I think you're spending too much time with me. I roll my eyes, looking down at my tray of half eaten muck.

"I think a movie will be fun." Kyle says, smiling at me goofily. This time I can't ignore the herd of elephants that trample all over my stomach when he looks at me. The rest of the group agrees, and immediately Chloe and Liam look up movies. We end up agreeing on Finding Dory at 9:45. Finding Dory was Liam's idea.

When 9:15 rolls around, I find myself stuck in a car in beside Chloe, who is talking non-stop about the lies of double chocolate dipped cherries at Meijer. We're in Seth's mom's mini van, on our way to pick up Kyle and Liam, who both live near each other.

Kyle and I sit in the very back together, so that Chloe can sit by Liam, she didn't have to ask. Kyle and I chat quietly, or try to be quiet. He's hilarious and I've always had a loud laugh. I semi listen to Chloe continue her rant on the double dipped cherries to Liam, finding it funny how angry she's gotten.

I hear Layne say something about grey hair, and then Seth's laugh echos through the van. Its going to be a good night. The rest of the ride flows in a blur of Kyle's jokes, Liam and Chloe's whispers, and Layne's random facts when anyone tries to say something smart. She's always there to make you feel dumb. In a good way though.

In the theatre we sit at the very top, Chloe by the wall, Liam next to her, Kyle next to Liam, me next to Kyle and Layne next to me with Seth at the very end. The movie goes, laughter ensues. As Bailey the dolphin or whale, I can't remember, yells 'it's consuming her' I nearly fall out of my seat.

My stomach soon starts hurting, the tears are falling down my face as I shove my face into Kyle's shoulder. He chuckles at me, lacing his fingers in mine. I don't notice that until I've calmed down. I don't take my hand away. I could live with this.
