27. vacation

Groaning, I wake up and see the party is over. After a hot shower, I simply pull on my mumu and flip flops so I can clean up. I agreed to help my neighbors move in. We lived next to each other while in the condo previously, then they moved into the middle of nowhere to help me with Erica.

"Hey." Scott groans from the couch.

"Get some sleep." I smirk.

He nods going to his room and I continue picking up remnants from the party. I have about twelve pounds of trash by the end of the first hour. After sweeping and mopping, I see that it is pretty much spotless. I notice the ring on my finger and sigh thinking about what should really happen with us, Derek and myself. After making breakfast and slicing fruit, I head to my neighbors home.

"Hey!" I smile as they open the door.

"I honestly think you wouldn't be up for it after that party yesterday." Natalia jokes.

"I fell asleep early, then I woke up early to clean. So how about we eat some scones while waiting for the movers?" I laugh.

"Sure!" Abraham roars taking the tray.

We lean against the counter eating, then hear the doorbell ring. I expect it to be the movers, but instead it is mom.

"Is Nicole here?" She asks.

I run up and smile behind Natalia.

"Ma, this is my neighbor Nat, and her husband Abe. I'm helping them move all day and was going to let you rest or babysit." I nod.

"It's so nice to meet you, thank you for delivering my grandchild. EJ wants to go to Taylor's house if that's okay? Noah and I want to explore the strip alone." She asks about my car keys.

"The pleasure is ours. She is our grandchild as well." Natalia smiles shaking her hand.

"Car keys are right here, and you have my number if you need me. Diane always loves doing girls days." I pass mama the keys.

Mom goes back home and we start moving furniture inside the house. It takes well over seven hours, but we get it done. I make pork chops with a side salad and pair it with a nice wine.

"So who all is visiting?" Abraham asks.

"My adopted parents and brothers, fiancé, his uncle, and his beta." I smile.

"You're still engaged after what he did?".

"Well, I mean, we never really broke it off. I kind of just left," I laugh embarrassed.

"Go talk to him, thank you for the delicious meal and all the help today." Natalia kisses my cheeks.

I walk inside and see nobody is home. Turning on the light, everyone pops up and screams, "Surprise!".

I look shocked and try to remember why they'd do this.

"It is your birthday." Derek says.

Nodding, I set down my keys and hold my flip flops.

"I'm sorry, I am not really in the mood to celebrate this year, tonight really. I am exhausted." I look down.

"Come on," Stiles starts.

"I'm sorry, we can take a raincheck on it." I walk up the stairs.

After a shower, I look around and crawl under my covers.

"Hey." Derek says.

"What are we doing?" I ask.

"What?" He groans.

"We are two adults with a daughter, werewolf mates linked for life, inevitably destined to be together. Now, you cheated on me, and I'm confused whether we are still engaged. I don't want you to leave, but honestly, do you think it'll happen again?" I shiver sitting up.

"Nikki-".

"DON'T YOU NIKKI ME, WILL IT HAPPEN AGAIN?!".

He crosses his arms and strides over to the bed.

"Nicole, you crazy bitch, I fucking love you. If you don't trust me enough to know I won't betray you, then I don't know what I am doing here other than disrupting your life." He growls while looking me in my eyes.

I kiss him gently, then chuckle feeling him pull off his shirt.

"Move over, I want to cuddle you." He sighs.

I comply and we spoon.

Today, they are forcing me to go out. We are all going to this show, with nonrefundable tickets. We sit in the amphitheater of the Bellagio or Monte Carlo, somewhere nice. It is fun and I enjoy every moment, until Derek shows up on stage.

"So sorry to interrupt, but the beautiful love of my life said something. She is a showgirl here at the Monte Carlo, she has the real nice thighs and ass, anyways. Last night, we had a very serious conversation and I would like for her to look under her seat." I do it and there's a box,

"Would you like to marry me, again, a continuation of our previous engagement with a bigger and better ring?" He is on one knee.

I nod and say yes while everyone cheers around me. I walk up and kiss him, then watch as he places this giant rock on my finger.

"Do you still love me babydoll?"

"Forever and Always." I lean in and kiss him passionately.
