"Wake up Korei," my little brother Nick yelled.
I pull the cover farther over my head, trying to block out the sound of my brothers voice and the sun shining brightly through my window.
"Korei mama said to get up right now because she is not driving you to school if you miss the bus again." Nick said, pulling the covers off my head.
I sit up, pulling the covers away from my brother. "I'm up... I'm up." I said pointing to the door, signaling him to get out my room.
After I finish showering and brushing my teeth, I walk over to my bathroom mirror to look at my hair. I touch my long dark brown flat twist, then began to take them down.
Once I'm finished I shake my curls, letting my hair form into my big curly afro. I smile at the sight of my hair. I love my natural hair, frizzy and all.
I decided to put on some jeans and a white tank top with a long black cardigan, and white sandals. I know it was going to be hot to day. It's always hot in Atlanta.I grabbed my book bag and ran down the stairs into the kitchen, where my mother and little brother and my little sister were sitting. "Good morning yall. Mom I love you see you later, bye." I say before running out the door and up the street to my bus stop.
Once I make it to my I see my bestfriend already waiting for me.
"Hey Malie." I say trying to catch my breath.
"Girl you going to sweat your hair out sweating like that." she said laughing.Me and Malie had been friends since the 8th grade. We were like Ying and Yang, but that's what made us click.
"Shut up, maybe I should have worn my hair up to day, but not everyone can just whip they hair into a bun." say waving my hand to her head.
Malie hair wasn't as thick as mine, but she had beautiful curly hair. We have always had a thing with our natural hair. It was just our thing. She waved her had at me dismissing my comment.
"You can your just lazy."I shake my head, right when I was about to shoot her back a smart comment, I see two people walking our way.
"Here we go." I said turning the opposite way, rolling my eyes.
"What?"
Malie said turning around to see who was walking our way, then looks back at me with an apologetic smile, "Just ignore him, please." she said in a sweet voice.
But it's not going to be that easy.
