Three Years Later:
There was whistle in the wind tonight; just like every night.
No one ever heard it but a collect few. The full moon beamed down and bounced off Zen's face agitating her awake.
She closed her eyes as soon as she had opened them, the moonlight hurt. Once adjusted to the light she slowly reopened them and just looked around admiring the wilderness and nightlife below her.
The whistle in the wind grasping her attention again and pulling her up to her feet. She stared out above other trees below the one she was currently in, and through the branches of those that were the same height.
She inhaled and exhaled sharply as the cold air hit her. Heat rises, that might explain why she was so high off of the ground and not as cold as she should be considering it was the middle of winter.
I squatted, sat and then laid back down on the thick tree branch. Settling down and taking a breath as my heavy eyelids began to close once more.
A gust of wind ruptures up towards me and nearly blows me out of the tree. "ALRIGHT! I AM UP! I AM UP! I WILL BE RIGHT THERE!"
I holler up towards the midnight blue sky. Speaking of midnight, once I was safely on the the ground I glance down at the time on my phone. Twenty minutes to midnight.
I shove my phone and hands back into my pockets, trotting off. Once I arrived at the vacant path I paced the floor to keep warm, letting my hair down and wrapping my scarf around my head like a hood and then my neck. Why is it so cold?
'Well I did give you a fur coat as an early birthday gift. Not my fault you chose not to wear it.'
A smile grew on my face at the sound of her voice. I spun around as she stepped out from the woods and into her own light. Artemis, one of the three moon goddesses and a lifelong friend.
"You mean that hooded fur cloak? Because not only is it not a coat but it is also not safe enough for me to wear out here. Furthermore, did you just read my mind?"
'Touché.' Is all she says, avoiding answering my question. Walking closer to me and bringing a layer of heat with her. She takes me in her arms causing me to jump before I hug her back and before she pulls away.
"Why did we not meet in my old lands?"
'You are not allowed back in your old lands; to avoid any trouble I thought here would be best.'
"DO YOU REALLY THINK I GIVE FUCK ABOUT ANY OF THAT!?!"
My eyes widened as soon as those words, and the matter of which they had come, left my lips. "I am sorry." I dropped my head and closed my eyes sighing, deeply disappointed in myself.
"I tend to get overanxious and keyed up while on unfamiliar territory. Whose lands are these?"
'It is quite alright. I know you better than you know yourself my child.' She gave me a loving smile and a look I could not quite decipher. ' No ones, this is a merchant path.' She gestured to her left and right; so mutual grounds.
