I bit my nails as I scanned the room carefully. It had been the longest they'd left me alone in two years, and I was getting more scared by the minute. I whispered to myself, "Maybe they've finally stopped."

"We'll never stop."

I screamed as the voice that whispered those words into my ear laughed mockingly. The laugh seemed to be coming from every corner of the room, and echoed in my ears. I blocked the voice and closed my eyes, but the laugh only got louder.

Suddenly a hand flew to my neck, and started choking me. My eyes shot open and I felt my face going red due to lack of oxygen. There they were, filling my room. I wouldn't really call them people, but certainly something like that. Their distorted faces came close to me and I cringed. Some of them had no eyes. The odd person's face was ripped off. Some had their jaws connecting to their floor. Some were half animal. And they had dedicated their time to make my life hell.

The hand on my neck started shaking and I could feel my teeth rattle. A woman's voice rasped behind, "Why did you block your ears? Do you want us to kill you?" I shook my head, fear filling up every part of my being.

I was thrown to a corner of the room. I recovered quickly and started to stand up.

Another voice, a man's this time, shouted viciously, "Doesn't matter what you say. We're going to kill you anyway. It won't be a quick death either. We're going to take our time."

I kept quiet, knowing not to say anything, as it only made them angrier.

"You're a piece of filth."

"Kill yourself."

"You don't deserve to live!"

"You're worthless."

Insults flew everywhere at me, and I started sobbing. They started poking, pushing and pulling me. They grabbed my arms, and pulled my hair. One of them pushed me with such force, my head banged against the wall and I fell to the ground. My eyes flickered shut, but not before I saw them above me, laughing, shouting and howling at me.

I woke up to the sound of someone knocking on my door. I groaned as I got up. The voices whispered that the person would kill me if I let him in, and so I started barricading the door with furniture. A woman's voice came behind the door, "Sarah, please let me in. You haven't eaten in three days." It sounded a lot like my mother.

My hands stopped working and fell to my sides. I stared at the door, contemplating whether to let her in or not. I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned. My mother stood before me. Her long brown hair was in a braid, just like I remembered it, and her brown eyes shone softly as she stretched her arms towards me. My heart nearly burst with happiness and I ran towards her, completely forgetting about the woman behind the door.

But as I came closer, she started changing. Her eyes filled with hatred, her fingers turned into claws and she charged at me. I knew that this wasn't my mother anymore, and I started screaming at her to stop.

The banging on the door got louder as I struggled with the woman. She suddenly into a black figure and disappeared into the ground. I lay there panting on the ground, looking at the ceiling slowly being shrouded in black. The door burst open, making the furniture fly everywhere.

I needed to get out. Without seeing who was outside the door, I pushed and ran outside. I sprinted down the stairs. I reached the front door, ignoring the shouts behind me. As I went outside the house, I saw the faces in front of me. They pointed to the road and said one word, "Run."

I did as they said, my bare feet hitting the concrete road. Then they shouted, "Stop!"

As I looked ahead, I saw two bright shining lights coming towards me. I heard someone whisper, "Lights off," as darkness consumed me.
