Prologue

Has it ever occurred to you that life is all just one giant pool of memories? Everything we do or say is logged away somewhere. It's just stored in our minds till one day it finds it's way back into thought.

That is my job. I sort the memories, pick out the ones that you need to see before you go. I take all the bad ones away so that all you have is a peace of mind. There's no name for my kind we just are here, for some reason. I do what I do because I am compelled to do it, I can't not intervene. As far as I know I am the only one like me at this hospital. I have never seen another roaming these halls as I do, with a kind intent.

Its daunting really, to be able to see a whole persons life in a matter of minutes and then its up to you to decide which memories stay or go.  Sometimes I'm not sure if I've made the right decision or not but in the end I need the memories. You see my kind, we live off of memories. If we don't have them we die. They are the blood that pulses through us, except if we get cut we don't bleed. Because we aren't alive.
