Sometimes I just wish I could leave and be free take everything out of my mind, somewhere I could call my own. Go somewhere far away from my horrible reality and go somewhere magical and unique. Just one wish could change everything, one wish of having a better life, that's all I wanted. My birthday upcoming, October 10, all I was hoping for was for my life to change and it did on the end.
I was running. Everything around me became blurry and dark, where was I? There were woods all around me it seemed like a sea of endless nature. I didn't know what I was running from but all I knew was that I had to get away. KILL HER, CATCH HER AND KILL HER those words became my motivation to run faster. Who was after me, did I do something wrong? I was wearing a dress a pure white dress, white makes you feel safe, for me not this time as I felt threaten. My dress started to turn red from the tip as I ran faster. I fell.
Woke up with a tear, my nightmare felt so real to be just a dream. What a fantastic way to start my birthday, right. I got up and did the same routine I've been doing twelve years now, getting ready to go to school. I was finally turning seventeen, just one more year for me to be considered an adult and leave.
When I finished getting ready for my "exciting day" and went down stairs to the kitchen and made myself something to eat. A Happy Birthday song started was sung by two female voices out of pitch from behind me. I turned around to find my mother and my baby sister behind me. I tried to act like if I was thrilled but my acting classes never paid off. They seemed to be more excited than me, but that was normal in my life. My mother has always wore a smile, that's her best quality she could make you feel like home. My baby sister is only 14 years, I love her, we might have a complicated relationship but I still couldn't see my life normal without her. They offered me a ride to school but I denied I for some reason preferred being alone than anything else. They were upset to hear my answer but accepted it anyway. Later on they told me they had something special planned. I smiled and said I was thankful for the hard work for making me feel special and I left.
No matter what season, the forest always looked beautiful like now. It's autumn everything is yellow, orange, and brown what a perfect combination of colors. People always say that in this time means everything dies but for me everything is born. I believe I feel this way because of birthday and what it really meant to me in the past, the return of my father.
My father was deployed very often but the time he would always come home during my birthday. This time it wasn't like that because he wasn't near, the only person that seemed to understand and look after me wasn't near. Ever since he joined the Marines ,12 years ago, my mother hasn't been herself well nobody really has. It will stay the same made till next year that's all his letters says.
Hundreds of thoughts went through my head until I heard a soft but fascinating voice of a little girl it seemed ,Imagine a city where everything's pretty And you, sir, you rule the kingdom You call the shots, you can do what you want to Oh, just imagine the freedom. I tried to see if the little girl was near now that her voice sounded so clearly.
"Where are you little girl "I shouted.
"Victoria is that you?" she whispered, I froze in terrified to respond to someone that seemed to already know who I am.
How do you know my name?
"Be careful on what you want, your wish can changed anything and everything" she vanished but her voice was still near.
What could that mean I thought for a second. I came back to reality, I was oblivious of the time, I searched for my phone in a never ending bag. It was six fifty-five, I only had ten minutes to get to school and get to class. Meanwhile I was running my mind was flooding in the words that the little girl said. What could she mean? How could a simple thing like a wish be dangerous? How can everything change? I finally was able to get to the street in front of my school; I was able to hear the warning bell. I ran faster than ever before, I wasn't able to go first to my locker I only had seconds for me to get to class. I blamed the lateness on the little girl if she was real or was it my imagination. I was late just by seven seconds when I arrived to class; the teacher spotted me going to my desk.
