Villain or Hero?

We reach the museum without being stopped, which was great.

"Come on," Mal says. "Check your mirror."

"Is my mascara smudged?"

"Yeah," I giggle.

"Hey, while you're at it, why don't you see if you can find us the wand."

"Sure," Evie breathes. "This way."

We run around the museum until we reach a door - the security room. Everyone flies to the sides of the door as the guard turns around, and I duck.

"That's your mother's spinning wheel?" Jay asks after they move back to the door. He and Carlos start to laugh.

"Yeah, it's kinda dorky," Carlos offers.

"It's magic," Mal hisses. "It doesn't have to look scary." She opens her book. "Magic spindle do not linger, Make my victim pick a finger."

All the spell does is make the security guard turn to look at the darn thing.

"Impressive," Jay says.

"I got chills," I joke.

"Okay, you know what... Prick the finger, pick it deep. Send my enemy off to sleep."

This time it works, and the guard picks his finger and curls up to sleep.

"Not so dorky now, huh?"

Mal's effect was ruined by the locked door, making me laugh.

"Stand back," Jay orders.

"I got this," I mutter. "Just think where you wanna go..." I squeeze my eyes shut and will myself to appear on the other side of the door.

"Kitty!"

I turn around to find that it worked, and I hurriedly unlock the door before Jay could destroy it. However, my older friend ends up on the floor because he had jumped to kick the door in.

"Coming?" Mal asks, kicking Jay as she passes him.

"Come on, Jay," Carlos says, trying to pull him up.

"I'm good," he argues.

"Just trying to help," Carlos mutters as he follows after the others.

"Kit!"

I go the easy way rather than around the sleeping guard, and chase Evie as we run towards our goal.

"Up, up, up, up, up, up!" Evie gasps. "Come on, guys. Almost there."

I bump into Evie as she stops, and I turn to look at what had made her stop. It was the Gallery of Villains. But my father wasn't there.

"Mommy?" Evie asks EQ's statue.

"Killer," Jay comments.

"I'll never forget Mother's Day again," Carlos breathes.

"Well, the wand's not here. Let's bounce." Jay looks at us. "Let's go."

"I'm just going to check something," I say, walking deeper into the gallery, but I still drew a blank on my father. However, upon coming across the large model of the Jolly Roger with a small part of Neverland behind, with Captain Hook and his crew looking just like they owned the seas, a pang of guilt hits me.

"Oh, Harry," I sigh. "I'm sorry." I had left without saying goodbye, without even telling him - what was he going to think? I shake myself out of it. "No. We'll get the wand and free our parents, and then I can apologize without having to say anything. Yeah..." I scan the plaques, reading about Hook and his men. I was only half surprised to find Peter Pan with his own plaque, since while he saved Wendy, the boy was a slippery devil - it was only right that he was mentioned to be a villain even if his position and statue was with the heroes.
