Chapter 2..... Growing Up

Karla's Story

••Six years later••

        "Look mommy, look" I said. I'm playing in my room, with my Legos. "I made you mommy!" My mom turns around and sees a demented looking figure. "Mi hija, it umm....looks, great! I have to cook though." My mom slams down the spatula. "I'm sorry mija. It's just that after your father left... well, things have been really rough for me." My mom frustratedly flips the pancakes, spilling some of he mix. "Oh great. Just what I nee-." My mom didn't get to finish her sentence as many one-eyed men, half bull, half man monsters, and sea lion demented kids, come running in my house, breaking down the doorway. "Where is the one called Karla Hernandez?" A very tall, one-eyed man (probably the leader of all the hideous beasts) walks up to my mom, breaking the ceiling on the way over. His very loud, booming voice shook the whole house. "Now be a good girl" the thing said while looking around the house. "Or me and my boys will rip you and your delicate little mother to pieces" he said, mumbling underneath his very putrid, and pungent breath. He starts sniffing the air like a dog. "Mmmmm. Demigod aroma. It's been a while, right boys! I haven't smelled a scent this strong since....how long was it Jared?" A scrawny little demented sea lion kid walks up to the man. "About three millenia my lord. Please don't hurt me." Hiding in the closet, I have a little sneeze, because of the dust in here, and the monster turns his head in my direction, walking slowly to the closet. "Move away from the closet you....you monste-" my mom strains to say. The beast man comes out of the crowd and smacks my mom to the other side of the house, putting in no effort. I start crying. Lighting sounds ahead. "Aww. The little baby wants to throw a tantrum. How cute! Seize the girl." He snaps his fingers and many of his monster come after me. My eyes and hands burn with my anger and rage. They hurt my mother like that. I can't just do nothing about it. "Hey!" I scream. "You want me!? Then come and get me you little punks!" I run across the room, trying to get my mother to wake up but it looks like she got knocked really hard. Anger flares through my body. My eyes turn blood red. My arms start to spark. Out of nowhere, lighting bolts start striking the ugly beasts. They all start dropping like flies. The leader (the only one standing) stares at me with a very akward hunger. "Very excellent" he chuckles. "I might have to keep you alive. My patron will reward me very nicely. Your blood will be spilled on ancient rocks, and she will rule all!" I run to my mother, shaking her. A gift box falls out of her pocket. I see a note attached to it saying, "Give her to Karla in her time of need. ♡Love-Zeus, her father. Send her to Camp Half-Blood, to be safe. Tell her I love her, and that I am sorry to leave her at such a young age." I open the box, wonder who her is, but I first sneak a peak at the ugly man, and see him picking up the monsters and whispering commands to them. I guess it's safe....but not for long. I look in the box and see an winged unicorn. Zapping Zeus, I always wanted one! I pick it up, and it snorts. I see a note on the bottom of the box. "Say the word Titos for the unicorn to grow bigger" it says. My mom wakes up with a start and sees the beasts come towards us. "Mi hija! We have to leave....like now!" We run out of the house through the back door. I carry the unicorn with me. "Stop!" I scream to my mom. "Titos!" I yell. In just seconds, my miniature unicorn turns to a beautiful prancing stead. "Mi hija!" my mom says. "How..? You know what. I don't even want to know. But can this thing fly?" "Don't know, but we'll fingers out just now." As we set off for flight, two ugly one-eyed men swats my mother of my unicorn. "Mi hija! I love you. Go and save yourself. It looks like you already unwrapped the gift your father gave you." Many monsters crowd around my mom, asking her where I went. My mom just smiles and says, "she's already gone." The half bull, half man monster comes up to my mother, and squeezes her until she turns to dust. My eyes turn pitch black with rage. First my dad leaves me, then my mom disinigrates to powder. Then, all my anger, rage, and wrath came out of me. It felt like, tanning myself in the hot summer afternoon. But, alot hotter. When I say alot, I really mean alot. It was amazing. I was sparking, and glowing red. My vision was blurred, and I could not feel my arms. Soon I hear a loud voice. "You fools! She is getting away! I should have known. Sending the weaklings to do a man's job. Gah! I will do it myself." A huge cyclops (that is what my mom called the man with one eye) come out of the trees, although he was wayyy taller than the trees. I turn to run, but I bump into a caramel brown, dark haired girl, and a girlish deep voice. "The monsters!" she shrieked. "We have to get away! My mother--." "I know!" I yelled. "We have to go if we want to survive. My name is Karla" I say. "My name is Ileana. We can ride my Pegasi. And think of names for her." I look at her and say,"I have a winged unicorn. So we can fly." "You fly on your unicorn" she said. "I'll fly on my pegasi." As we go on our pets, I glance one more time at the monsters as they trudge towards us like zombies. But much faster. "Come on!" Ileana yells. We soon take off. "I have and place we can go" I hear her yell in the wind. "There is a little house, where my other friend is." "Who is she? I ask. "Her name is Jessica. But, between us, I think she can be a little bipolar sometimes. So can her red panda." The name Jessica reminded me of a girl I once knew. I am glad we don't know each other any longer. Hopefully, she isn't the same Jessica. "The only daughter of Hades since... three millenia" She continued to say. "Same for me. But, I am the daughter of Poseidon. Well, that is what the note that came with my pegasi said. Enough about me... who is your parent?" I take out the note I found in the box. "Well, it says that my dad is Zeus. I guess that explains the lightning." "Well, since he is your dad, your aroma is really strong. That is as why so many monsters are coming after you." She soon stops. "Here we are! Hurry! They might see us." I stop my unicorn, and look behind us, and all around us. "Where is the house? Either your crazy, or I'm crazy." Ileana waves her hand and I see a house. I look at my unicorn and whisper, "Titos." My unicorn shrinks back into a mini pony, with a rainbow horn. "Whoa" Ileana says. "I can do the same thing with my pegasi. Look.....Orianos." Her pegasi shrunk to a raccoon sized horse. "Yeah, it's an umm, little trick I learned" I say. Soon, vigorous shaking is heard in the trees. "They have to be here. Somewhere! Find her. First you all lose the daughter of Hades, then Poseidon, now Zeus! They are more powerful then the first set of the big three kids. But of course, I ate them. FIND THEM YOU USELESS BRATS!"
Oh no! The cyclopes! "You guys better get inside..... that is if you want to get smushed and eaten" a very familiar voice says. I turn and see her. "Jessica" I say. "I'm back baby. Miss me?" Jessica says casually, shrugging her shoulders. "Not after what you did." I start sparking as the painful memories come flooding inside of me like it happened today. "We should get inside then talk about what Jessica did" Ileana says helpfully. As we get inside the house and all my energy empties out of me. I soon fall to the ground unconscious. That is when the strange dreams start happening. "Karla....Karla.....Karla!" Someone keeps calling me. I open my eyes and see a twenty foot tall man, in a nice suit, with a well trimmed beard. Wonder if my mom would be interested in him. Oh...., she isn't here anymore. "My daughter" the man said, smiling. Why does that man look and sound familar? 'My daughter'? What is he talking abo-- wait. That man is my dad? The same man who had the guts to leave my mom? Every night, I would hear my mom cry about how my dad would come back. At least visit. I always said to myself, 'he will pay. For letting my mom cry herself to sleep, me being fatherless. I am going to beat the stuffing out of him. "You" I say. "You show your face to me now? You freaking left me at a young age for crying out loud. And you dare smile? You disgust me." I turn away from my dad, and start walking away. "I know you're mad at me. But hear me out. Don't be mad at Jessica. She will help you in the future. If you still hold a grudge against her, you will receive no help. Learn to forgive. And please, forgive me...for leave leaving you and your mother. God's cannot stay with their mortal wife's or husbands. I really hope you understand. Hopefully we can meet in better times. Where we are not in danger. Farewell Karla. And learn to control your anger, because if you don't, your little grudge with Jessica might end up killing you and her. You will out the world in danger." The dream dissolves into reality. I see Jessica , quickly get up and run to give her a hug. "What is this for? Is this your way of torturing me?" she says. "No" I say. "It's my way of saying.....will you forgive me for what I did?" What Jessica did then, was the unthinkable. She hugged me back, and whispered, "I forgive you. But will you forgive me? Kevin! Come meet the newest member of he family." A red panda comes the room, and starts nudging at my leg. "I finally have a complete family" Jessica says.
