CHAPTER 3
After driving for what seemed like forever I finally got to my Uncle Michael's house. My uncle was also transgender an already knew I was coming because I called earlier. Michael was my favorite uncle because I could talk to him about anything and he understood me unlike everyone else.
I walked up the steps leading to his large oak door and rang the doorbell. After I waited for 2 seconds the door opened and there he stood. Dark brown eyes and pink stained hair. He welcomed me with a warm hug and said "Nice to see you, it felt like it's been forever!"
"Well you know you're psychotic sister didn't let us see you after you came out so blame her." I said coldly.
"What happened between you and her, why aren't you with her?" He questioned. After explaining how my mother treated me he led me to what my room would be for a while and said we would customize it how I want later.
"Thank you so much," I said after unpacking and settling in my new room.
"Don't worry about it, umm..." he replied confused, not knowing what to call me.
"A.J."
"Goodnight A.J., you must be tired so get some rest," Uncle Michael said before leaving the room and shutting the door. I sighed knowing I won't have to worry about my mother for the night.
Why did she try so hard to get me back, I know she doesn't accept me. She doesn't understand how lost and confused I am. I want to be able to walk the streets and be able to be treated the way I feel I should be treated. I am a boy. She rather her child be lost, lonely, and miserable than happy. Why won't she let me be happy, be me?
I woke up early the next day. The tears that got me to sleep were dry and crusted on my face. I slowly opened my bedroom door, trying not to wake up Michael if he was still asleep. I walked into the bathroom and avoided the mirror. I know I looked like death, I didn't need to be sure. I did my business and washed my hands. I took a clean face towel from the closet and washed my face.
I walked down the hall to the kitchen but stopped when I heard voices trying to be quiet but failing terribly.
"AJ, is that you," Uncle Michael asked. I walk the rest of the way into the living room where he and someone else was sitting.
"Hey," I said sitting down across from them. "This is Dakota, he is my friend and is also transgender." Michael said gesturing to his friend next to him. "Dakota this is my nephew, AJ, who is transgender as well." Me and Dakota exchanged nods and small 'Heys' to each other. "The reason we are all here is for you AJ," Michael said then looked over to Dakota who spoke next.
"Your uncle told me that you recently transitioned and we are both here for support to answer any questions you may have and to help you be the best and happiest you you want to be."
I smile to them, "Thank you so much it means a lot to have someone help me through this."
"We know transitioning to be hard and we are happy to help," Michael smile back, "Do you have anything you need to ask or do you need anything," I sat and thought before answering.
"I do need a binder I save that money for one I just don't know where to get one," I said and they nodded.
"Well we can order one and for the time being you can have one of my old ones," My uncle said. I smiled, this is really happening.
"Also I want to get on testosterone as quick as possible."
"I know a great doctor for that," Dakota said, "Have you thought about surgery? Top, bottom, or both?" I shook my head I guess I haven't really thought about surgery that idea scared me but also excited me.
"Anything else?" Uncle Michael questions I shook my head again. "Well if you need anything just ask,"
"Well breakfast would be nice." they both laughed.
After breakfast and after Dakota left I got in the shower and dressed. When I first slipped on the binder I felt like a new person. I was one step closer to becoming me, the person I always wanted to be.
My uncle was sitting on the couch watching TV. I picked up my keys off the hook and went over to my uncle. "Can I borrow some cash, I want to go to the store to buy things for my room," I asked. He took out his wallet and handed me five 20s "Thanks," I called out to him walking to the door.
I drove to the mall 15 minutes away. I walked around for a bit before settling for going to Kohl's. I found a simple dark blue sheet set with a comforter for my queen bed. I paid then left the store.
I walk to my favorite store ever Hot Topic if I could I would live in the store I walked over to the buy one get one free rack and got six shirts. One panic at the Disco, Ed Sheeran, Lukas Graham, Fall Out Boy, Sleeping With Sirens, and Melanie Martinez. Don't judge she's fucking awesome. I wandered through the store and found a Marvel and DC Comics wallet with a chain, two beanies, and some band bracelets. I went to the checkout desk and pulled out my cash and rewards card. While waiting for my total, I noticed a sign that said 'HIRING' on it. When I was done paying I asked about the sign. "Yeah we are looking for a cashier, someone who can help us with stocking, and possibly someone to help with the online orders that come in," she said.
"Where do I sign up," I said holding back my excitement. She laughed.
"Here's the application form."
I grabbed the form and I thanked her and first headed to my car to put the bags away and then back into the mall to the food court. I filled out the form and turn it in. Then I roamed a little while longer then went home. After my 15-minute car, I went inside and upstairs to put up my stuff.
