Julien's POV

I hated war. War was such a mindless thing and I had promised myself that as soon as I got the Alpha position I would try my hardest to keep the peace. No sooner had I prepared to tell my pack the good news of our peace towards all neighboring packs, then Blood Stone pack had declared war on us. I wasn't so worried about winning the battle because I was alpha of the largest pack in Europe, but Blood Stone wasn't that far behind us in numbers and they could really do some damage to my people. I would never want any of my pack to be put in harm's way and therefore, as soon as war was declared, I had put the women and children into safety shelters and gathered a few of my strongest males to accompany me in a peace treaty signing. I had left my female and male gammas in charge of things while my beta, Thomas, and I were going to be away.

I stood in front of my mirror, watching my wolf pace around the room. He was a fully black wolf with white fur running from his neck to the tip of his tail. We were magnificent and we had consistently received compliments from anyone who had encountered us. Our head bowed in the mirror as we rehearsed the lines that we would say to the other alpha. I was terrified of a war truly taking place. It would be very harmful to both packs. I flicked my tail and, against my better judgment, I lifted a hind leg and began to scratch at my waist. Oh yeah! It was the best thing about being in wolf form. You could get at all those little itches with your claws. No sooner had I gotten really into my itching, than my best friend and beta walked into the room. He tilted his head at me and I froze in embarrassment. Scratching was something younger wolves had partaken in and myself. being 21, was no longer considered a young wolf. Thomas's wolf smirked at me.

"Did you get a good scratch hmm?"

I bared my teeth at the deep rust colored wolf and he lowered his head in respect.

"I'm just asking, Julien, no need to get your fur in a bunch." I growled at him. Humph! He was one to talk about acting like a child! His wolf still had freckles on its fur and green, lime colored eyes.

"At least my wolf looks more mature! We don't have freckles on our snout." I huffed when Thomas fell on the floor laughing and I clicked my nails in impatience.

"Well... I just came to tell you that the group is all ready to go and we are waiting for you." Thomas told me, while stretching and shaking out his fur. I nodded at him and followed him out of the room. Bleh. This wasn't very fun at all for me.

As soon as I reached the others outside, I let loose a long, low howl and we were off. I led my group through the woods and by the time we reached the clearing of Blood Stone pack we were surrounded by the members of Blood Stone. Some of them were growling at us and circling us and I tried my hardest not to growl back because we were here for peace. My inner wolf bristled at the lower ranking wolves challenging us and I tried harder to control my wolf, but when one of them lunged for my beta, I snapped and jumped for their throat. I bit down into their side and threw them against a tree. I had no want to kill them, but I wanted them far away from harming my group. I growled at the wolves circling us and backed up against a tree. My men were behind me and I swished my tail slowly. If it came down to it, we would have to attack and I really didn't want to.

One wolf lunged for us and I growled, jumping up to knock the wolf back down. It was a deep brown wolf and as soon as she rolled away from us, a purely white wolf with a black snout and belly jumped in front of me and growled. The other wolves backed away from this one and I growled lowly. My beta and my men gathered around me with their ears pinned flat against their head. We hadn't received the welcome a group of peace bringing soldiers would receive and as an alpha, they had greatly disrespected me and my men. The white wolf's icy blue eyes stared a hole in me and the grey freckles on the bridge of its snout seemed to flatten against its eyes as it snarled at me.

"What are you doing on my land in a time of war?" Hearing the wolf speak to me in my mind had my inner wolf whimpering slightly and I growled at his weakness and lifted my shoulders up a bit higher.

"We are here to declare peace." The white wolf snorted at that and yipped to his other wolves and they quickly ran back to their land. He then turned back to me and nodded his head for us to follow him. The whole way into his home I couldn't help but stare at his butt as it swished like he was dancing to his own music. I wanted to dance to his music and my wolf yipped in agreement. I shook my head to clear it. What was I thinking about? Dancing to someone's own rhythm? That was so weird and I was glad I hadn't said it out loud.

We made it into his main dinning room and were asked to shift. I waited until the other alpha did so before I did, letting my men know it was okay to shift back. We all sat at the table and the other alpha folded his hands in front of him.

"Let's talk then."
