Growing Up

Childhood is purity
Childhood is innocence
Childhood is laughter and fun

Childhood feels like opening up a present that you've always wanted.
Childhood tastes like that but of cookie dough that you steal from the bowl even though mom tells you not too.
Childhood smells like the flowers you picked from the park to bring home.
Childhood looks like someone crying so hard because of laughter, not because they're hurt
Childhood sounds like the "good jobs" and the "way to go's".

But now that's all changed, I'm grown up.

Adolescence is horror
Adolescence is trying to find yourself
Adolescence is fighting to hold on

Adolescence feels like that 49% on a test because it shows you that you're not even good enough to pass.
Adolescence tastes like that mouthful of blood after getting beat up because of what and who you like.
Adolescence smells like that pile of dirty laundry you don't have the time to wash.
Adolescence looks like the tears of pain, and not joy.
Adolescence sounds like the "you're not good enough" and the "you're a failure" 's.

If only we could rewind time, there's so much I'd give to be a child again.
