There he was. His hair perfectly messy, the infectious smile spread across his face, and his hazel eyes that can melt your soul. Stiles Stilinski, the boy I've liked since third grade was standing just across the hall. I could see him perfectly. And yet, he never said sees me.
That's my problem. I'm not a ditzy blonde, I don't have boys falling at my feet. I just don't stand out in the crowd. Stiles is different. Stiles has those girls falling at his feet. He has the perfect body. Me? I will never get my chance.
I heard a feminine snicker from behind me. "Lydia, you're staring at him again."
I whipped around to see my best friend, Allison Argent.
"Am not!" I said, defending myself as I take one last glance. In the corner of my vision, I see a blur of stiles' green flannel. I restrain myself from look at him, refusing to give Allison evidence.
"Why don't you just go talk to him?" The brunette asked. Allison had radiating beauty. It was no wonder the cute boys always look at her. Allison never goes for the opportunity. She prefers to live at the bottom of the food chain, stay out of the drama.
"That's very funny, Allison." I replied, chuckling slightly. Allison opened up our locker that we shar. She took out a red notebook and exchanged it for the blue one.
"I cannot go up and talk to stiles stilinski." I told her. In truth, I've tried talking to him. He ignores like I'm invisible. "He doesn't even know I exist." I sigh.
Allison shuts our rusty blue locker. "We better get to class." she says, just as the bell rings.
I half-smile and and wave good bye. "Meet you at lunch?" I asked.
"As always." Allison replied.
I turned on my heels and headed to my next class. I walked down the halls of Beacon Hills high school. The walls had white paint cracking away, and the old blue lockers were scattered along the hall. The building has been standing forever, it was no wonder there was a new problem every week. Just last week, three classrooms on the top floor had water from the roof leaking in.
I turned my final corner and arrived at AP English. Of course, stiles was there. We'd been in the same English class the whole year.
I zipped to the back of the classroom, trying to make my late entrance less awkward then it already was. Just by chance, the only open desk was by stiles. I sighed and took my seat.
"Nice of you to finally join us, Mrs. Martin." Ms. Bradshaw, our teacher, said. Ms. Bradshaw was lighthearted and fun, that is until you get on her bad side. I'd always been on her good side, and this might've screwed that up.
Bradshaw continued on with her lesson. We discussed last nights homework, then she handed out a new stack of papers. With fifteen minutes left of class, I got started right away.
Abut ten minutes in, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I looked up and was meet with a pair of hazel orbs. Stiles.
"Hey, um, do you know who Lydia Martin is?." He asked. I opened my mouth to speak, but nothing came out.
"I-I'm Lydia Martin." I finally managed. A look of shock spread across his face. I may have been imagining it, but I swear I could see him blushing.
"Awkward." He muttered under his breath. "Well anyways, would you like to go to a party tonight?." Stiles asked.
I must've looked like a deer in headlights. Stiles Stilinski just asked me to go to his party. "I'd love to." I said almost immediately.
Stiles smirked. "Great, see you at seven." he said and turned back to his work.
I smiled and went back to writing down answers on the homework. On the inside I was dying to tell Allison. I couldn't wait to see how excited she would be. The bell for class rang a moment later. I hurried to gather my things and fled the classroom. My excitement was through the roof. I scanned the crowded hallway for Allison. I caught a glimpse of her blue denim shirt.
"Allison!" I called. she stopped and turned around. Allison walked towards me. I pulled her off to the side of the hallway to share the news.
"Alli, guess what happened in English." I exclaimed.
"What happened?" Allison asked, an eager look on her face.
"Stiles invited me to his party!" I beamed. I watched as Alison's face turned from elated to angry in a matter of seconds.
"Are you going?" She asked, a hint of concern in her voice.
"Of course I'm going! Why shouldn't I?" I asked.
"Stiles isn't a good guy, Lydia. I just don't want to see you get hurt." Allison replied. She was my best friend, and she can't even be happy for me?
"You're just jealous that the hottest guy in school didn't invite you!" I huffed. I brushed past her and stormed off to my next class.A/N:
