LUCY

Erza lead me through the palace where I would be staying for 3 days before I leave our kingdom. She took me to an average-looking room which was still amazing compared to mine back home.

She closes the door behind us, and joins me to sit on the bed.

"May I ask... Why did you do that?" She furrows her brows in confusion.

I stared at her for a while, then giggled. "To be honest, I also don't know..."

The red-headed woman was shocked. She had even more confusion in her eyes than with everyone else's in the assembly combined.

We locked eyes again.

"Levy... was like a sister to me, you know? She's one of those people who I'd never bear to loose and-"

"BUT WHY?! WHY GIVE YOURSELF UP?! WHAT'S THE POINT?!" She bursts at me.

Woah.

"I-I didn't mean to-"

I paused there. Erza was crying. Her sobs had sorrow in them, her tears were falling from her eyes like a waterfall.

I stood up and hugged her. Though we hardly know each other, it feels just right to stay like this, just for a while.

"I'm guessing you lost someone really special... huh..?" I asked while comforting her and running my fingers through her hair.

"H-he was executed... because I couldn't do a damn thing!" Erza hits her fists hard on herself.

I wanted to ask her who this person may be, but...

"I'm sure wherever he is now, he's happily watching over you. Making sure you're safe from harm each and every day. There's nothing to worry about..."

I held her closer. Suddenly I felt like my problem has vanished. All I cared about was comforting the one crying in front of me.

2 days later

Queen Mavis has called me to the throne room. She said needed a word from me before I leave tomorrow for my mission.

The colossal door creaked as I tried ro open it gently. The queen was already sitting on her throne in the middle of the room, though I guess she's probably been in here the whole day.

"I've been waiting for you, Lucy..." She stands from where seat and walks towards me.

I, not knowing what to do, awkwardly bowed right when her majesty was in front of me. She giggled and told it wasn't necassarry.

This was the first time in we've been in the same room since the ceremony.
Sure, I was staying at the castle but it was rare for us to even see each other.

"I think you know why I called for you..." Her voice peeps slowly and gently. "You will be leaving the kingdom tomorrow, are sure you're prepared..??"

I don't know. Am I?

"Of course, your majesty. This is what I signed up for. It would be stupid and shameful to turn back now..."

She smiles. "I admire your courage, Lucy. It's something that everyone in Fairy Tail should have."

I was flattered by what Queen Mavis had said, though I knew deep in my heart that it wasn't true.

I'm scared. Very scared.

I try my best to fool people into thinking everything is okay, and it always seems work.

I guess by now I have mastered the art of disguise, having practiced it since I was a child.
