For the first time all summer, it decided to rain. I was halfway round to Lily's house when the little droplets fell from the sky, splashing against the pavement. Considering I had been wearing a short blue skirt and a pink tank top, I should have rushed round to escape getting drenched but I didn't. Instead I stopped in the middle of the street with my arms spread wide, allowing the rain to come crashing against my skin and clothing. It made me feel free.

By the time I eventually arrived at Lily's house she was frantic. Bella went and picked me out a spare set of clothes and Ruby made me a hot chocolate but I was fine. They all stared at me wide eyed as I told them I stayed out for so long on purpose but I merrily laughed away their concerns for my sanity.

They giggled along with me in the end when I told them for the hundredth time I was completely fine and dandy. I dressed in one of Lily's floral playsuits and sipped away at the steaming drink but only because I was forced. For all I cared I could have sat in my wet clothing all day long.

'So missy, tell us all about your date with Robbie,' Bella started, snatching a chocolate bar off the pile and ripping it open.

'And we want all the gory details,' Ruby interjected and I giggled. I couldn't help but smile.

'Robbie is so fantastic,' I began and launched into the story. 'He messaged me on Sunday asking if I wanted to meet him so obviously I went along. Harry came with us as well.'

'How was that?' Lily asked and I shrugged.

'It was fine, the boys seemed to be friendly and Harry genuinely got on with him.'

'Well, I didn't see that coming,' Ruby laughed, scrolling through her phone.

'I know, neither did I but he seemed to be normal, a bit guarded but still our lovely Harry,' I said and Bella rolled her eyes.

'You and him are so perfect,' Lily muttered absently and I frowned.

'Who me and Harry?' I almost spat my drink out. 'I think that’s basically incest.'

Bella and Ruby fell into fits of laughter but Lily narrowed her eyes at me, her mouth curled up into a small smile.

'No you idiot, you and Robbie. Everyone forgot how perfect you and Harry are back in year 7,' she patted my knee and stretched her legs out in front of her.

'Come on guys, we are seriously just friends,' I stressed and Ruby nodded.

'Yeah I mean I think he fancies Katie,' Bella said and I clapped my hands.

'I feel a bit of matchmaking coming on,' I squealed and Lily gasped.

'Oh no,' Lily burst out laughing, 'we all know what happened last time you tried to set someone up.'

Ruby flushed bright red and put her phone down. 'How about we just forget that ever happened?' She pleaded and licked her lips.

'I'm sorry Ruby, but as long as me and Katie still have the video on our phones,' she waved the iPhone in front of her face, 'the memory will live on.'

'I take full responsibility,' I said holding my hands up, 'but still, if Liam wasn't such a nervous wreck, things would have gone swimmingly.'

'When was the last time you spoke to him?' Lily asked. Ruby furrowed her brow and stared at the beige rug for a second.

'Probably around two weeks ago,' she said finally.

Bella snorted and heaved herself up onto an armchair. 'And is that because you ignored him or did he just not message?'

'Ermm, well I kinda forgot to reply-' Ruby started but I interrupted.

'Give me your phone,' I ordered snapping my fingers.
