An hour later, the doorbell rings. I hate my life. "Celia, could you get the door, I'm setting the table." my mom calls from the dining room. "Sure." I say, walking to the door. I'm opening the door to the demon. Great. I pull open the door, seeing Wes and a lady with long black hair waiting. "Hi, I'm Cecelia." I say to the woman, presumably Alice. "Hi, I'm Alice. It's a pleasure." she says politely. I move to the side to let them in, avoiding the devil's eyes. "Welcome," my mom greets them. I roll my eyes, following them to the dinner table. We all sit down, my mom to the left of me, Alice to the right of me, and the devil reincarnated in front of me. We all start eating the pot roast my mom prepared, and I refrain from shoving my face into my plate. My mom never cooks pot roast unless we have guests. "So, Cecelia. Your mother told me you have a 4.0 GPA, is that correct?" Alice asks me through bites of food. I shift incomfortably as I notice Wes staring at me. "Um, yeah. I'm in all AP classes, so the work can get difficult at times, but I manage." I say quietly, shifting in my chair. "She's also won many awards for her b-" I nudge my mom, stopping her mid-sentence. No one but Talia knows about my ballet. Nor should they. "Mom, this roast is lovely!" I say, changing the subject. I notice Wes staring at me intently, and I look away. Alice, sometimes I wonderland about your son. Get it? Wonderland? Alice? Nevermind. "So, Cecelia. I was wondering if you could tutor Wes?" Alice asks me. Of course. "Oh, of course. I can fit him in after school on Friday." I say, trying not to yell, "He doesn't care about school!" "Oh, you are so wonderful!" Alice says. After about an hour of talking, Alice and her devil-child finally leave. I immediately go to sleep, planning to get up early to practice my ballet.
