He looked at me like I was the lowest of the low. I gave the same blank stare I always do no matter how much he hurts me. I waited for him to finish before I turned and left the room. We acted more like enemies than people who are 'engaged'. Let be backtrack.
My name is Sapphire Ivy Greene. I am a university student at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. I am 24 and in the second year towards my honours in finance. I know I should be working already but life's a bitch,we all know that. I had to work a couple of years to raise funds for my schooling. I am not an orphan, though I might as well be. My mom died when I was a senior due to diabetes and my lovely father decided I was too much baggage for him. I think he has a new family but I wouldn't know for sure. We don't keep in touch.
I work at a cozy little coffee shop called Judy's ( so original) and it's not far from where I stay. Someone clears their throat bringing me back to the present. I turn and face the bane of my existence; Kayla Adams aka Bitchy Kay. We go to the same school and she feels she has to make it her mission to make my life a living hell. I stopped reacting a long time ago as I have become but a shell of my usual self. I raise an eyebrow in question wanting the confrontation to be done already.
"Look what the cat dragged in; trashy skanky hoe." She was wearing a trashier version of what I was wearing; a black belt ( it's supposed to be a skirt) and a white blouse that looks like it belongs to a five year old and hooker heels.
"You really should stop announcing yourself all the time. I would have seen you eventually." I said with a careless shrug and went back to wiping the counter. She huffed and left, muttering about how much of a bitch I am. The bell at the door jingled signalling that someone entered the shop. I wiped my hands preparing to help them. I looked up and my breath caught in my throat. He is God, I have a boyfriend and he is actually good looking but this man is on a league of his own.
"Can I have a black coffee with no sugar and a banana croissant, to go." Shut the front door! His voice sent shivers down my spine and I'm sure every inch of my skin was covered in goose bumps. I had to keep reminding myself that I am not single, like a fucking mantra.
I shook my head internally and looked at his amazing steel grey eyes and asked " will that be all sir?" He gave a sharp nod and I went about preparing his order. My skin felt like it was on fire as I felt his gaze on me. I gave him his order and he left without another word. That man is fucking gorgeous.
I shook away thoughts of Mr handsome mystery man and continued with my duties. Time went by really fast and it was time to lock up. I left the coffee shop and began walking to my flat. It was a bachelor apartment and was super cute. Thankfully, with the bursary I obtained this year, I moved from my creepy run down flat in Yeoville to this one in Braamfontein. As I was walking, I heard a familiar voice just before I turned the corner. Nothing could have prepared me for what I saw.---------------------------------------------------
