"Hey," I whispered as Josh woke up. It was 2:34 in the cold, early December afternoon. The soft drizzle of rain on the roof was soothing. I guess I could see how Josh was asleep all this time.

"What time is it?" Josh asked groggily. Gosh, he was so cute when he was tired.

"Later than you should be sleeping, what were you doing last night anyway?" I questioned, leaning over him with a pot of coffee.

"Oh, nothing," Josh blushed, looking away. His face matched his cotton candy pink hair. I was starting to get worried. Why was Josh staying out late every night this week? "Really, it's nothing," he assured me.

"Go ahead and show me your face," I said, forcing him to look at me. "I know you're not a liar. So why are you saying it's nothing? If it was nothing then why can't you tell me?" Josh snuck back under the red and blue blanket.

"Dude, all I did was stay out. You're not my mom so stop bothering me about it."

I smirked. "I'm not your mom but I am your boyfriend so you still gotta listen to me." I tickled him until he fell out of the bed.

"Was that really necessary?" He laughed, throwing the blanket back on the bed. "Well, now that I'm up, I better eat something. What's for breakfast?" He yawned, rubbing his eyes.

"You missed breakfast bud, it's after 2:00. We can go out and grab something to eat if you want though." I offered. The pitter-patter of the rain drummed out a beat above us.

He groaned. "But it's raining!" He whined. I laughed, shaking my head.

"The rain won't destroy you so much as the snow so you better toughen up and let's grab some food. I'm starving, I haven't eaten since breakfast," I said. Josh could be so difficult sometimes. He threw on his favorite shirt, the gray one that says NASA in red, blue, and white letters. As we drove away in the car, the rain beat down on the window, blurring the view.

"So whatcha want to eat? Taco Bell sounds good to me," I said, interrupting the silence.

"I mean no disrespect, but all you ever want to eat is Taco Bell. Can we get some good Mexican for once?" Josh laughed. I guess I do eat Taco Bell a lot. I mean, it is one of my favorite fast food places.

"Sure. Where were you thinking?"

"I know this place just down the road. I'll give you directions." As we drove down the street, Josh told me where to turn as we got closer to this new restaurant.

"Turn here," Josh pointed to a small brick building. It looked packed, there were a ton of cars in the parking lot.

"Are you sure we'll get a spot? I've been waiting for you all day so I really don't want to have to wait another hour for our food." I looked at the crowded restaurant nervously.

"I'm sure it'll be fine, calm down," Josh said as he pulled into a spot near the front. As we walked in, I saw there was no one sitting at any of the tables. How could they all possibly be empty? When we got up to the counter they told us there was going to be a short wait and they would need a name. I groaned.

"Come on Jish, can't we eat somewhere else?" The man looked at us expectantly. Josh shook his head, he was being stubborn. He was so cute when he was determined. Ugh, fine. "Josh. Josh is the name." Josh shook his head again.

"Actually, let's get a table for Tyler," Josh said. The man smiled and nodded, writing this down.

"Why won't you let us use your name?" I asked, turning to Josh.

"Because, it's not my birthday." He winked.

There was a blast of "SURPRISE!" all around the restaurant. I slowly turned around to see all of my friends and family around the tables, smiling at me. How could I have forgotten? It was December 1st, my birthday and my boyfriend had thrown me a surprise party. So this was what he's been out doing every night. He was organizing this for me. I love that dork so, so much. Today truly was the best day of my life.
