A Familiar Stranger

You came into my life so suddenly,

After two years of waiting,

You left me breathless,

You didn't know I'd changed,

Or how I would affect you,

But one look said it all.

I saw your eyes,

Saw your pain,

Hugged you close,

And felt your warmth,

Wondered what one kiss could hurt.

But the presence of his ring on my finger reminded me of his voice in my mind saying,

"I'll always be faithful,

And I know you will too,

Thick or thin,

hard or easy,

we're in this together,

I love you."

So passed the chance to kiss your lips,

Knowing if you attempted,

I would stop you.

No matter how much I wanted to let you.

It scares me to think of what might have been,

What was,

And what if.

Leaving you was easy,

Leaving him is impossible.

And that's exactly how it should be,

Especially with the only man I've ever made love to.

Sex is easy,

Love is not.

It's hard,

And scary,

Sometimes it even hurts so bad you'd rather feel nothing at all,

But in the end it's worth it,

All of it.

To be with the one who will never leave you when you need him the most.
