My wolf howled in despair as he fell to the ground panting heavily. Since the wolves around me were distracted I dove through them and raced towards him. I don't know why we cared so much about him but I had to reach him before another wolf could hurt him more.
All of my hopes for joining this loner pack vanished when I saw his arm drenched in his own blood. I growled so loud that wolves from both sides stopped in their tracks. The large loner who attacked my friend snarled at me as if shouting "traitor!" and I saw red.
Pushing off my back legs I leaped over blue eyes straight onto his attacker. We rolled on the ground and I got a hold of his scruff. My wolf shouted advice at me and we quickly sunk his neck into the ground. He struggled on the ground and snarled. I put both front paws on his chest and followed through quickly with his head. It was one of the quickest kills I had ever delivered.
I snapped the rest of the dead wolf's head off and threw it a few feet in front of blue eyes. Shielding blue from danger I put all of the power I had into a terrifyingly low snarl. All heads except for the decapitated one on the ground in front of my paws and the few dead wolves looked towards my figure and one even bigger loner howled loudly.
Almost as quickly as he started howling loners sprinted away heading to whatever protection they had. I had to admit, decapitating one of the largest wolves was one of the best power moves my wolf had ever thought of even though it was really disgusting.
The pack wolves let out happy barks of victory and went to blue eyes as soon as the loners had cleared. I looked down at my new friend and saw his striking eyes once more. As soon as I saw them I felt safe and felt a little bit of affection towards him. The light colored wolves surrounded me and blue and I barked at them threateningly.
One wolf shifted and I put my harsh gaze on the others surrounding us.
"It's ok Luna we won't hurt you or Liam." The naked dude to my right spoke cautiously. Was I Luna? I thought that was only used for leading females of packs. Naomi sometimes fought Ryan on the leadership of the pack which didn't mean so much to me and used the term Luna. Maybe it's like how my wolf called Liam mate. I looked down realizing that blue eyes now had a name.
Liam.
My wolf sighed dreamily and told me that we were safe now. I laid down next to Liam and whined softly. The wolfs around me started shifting and I decided I would go run and get some clothes.
"Where are you going Luna?" A female who apparently didn't mind being nude shouted at me. I tried to gesture to my body with a paw and she seemed to get it. I ran in the general direction of my house and howled to let Naomi and Ryan know I was ok. Once I got there I shifted near one of the bushes I hid spare clothes in. I dressed quickly and heard my pack howling together in the forest across town near their house.
I started jogging over and made it there within a few minutes thanks to short cuts. I could see them standing by a fence next to their house. Since they were brother and sister they looked pretty similar. Naomi and Ryan both had olive skin, brown eyes and black hair. As soon as I reached them I was sandwiched into a hug. Naomi was sobbing and sunk into my shoulder.
"What just happened Aria?" She cried out. "How are you alive?" She shook my shoulders and Ryan nodded in agreement. Ryan seemed miserable and wouldn't look away from the ground.
I explained the whole story to them not leaving any details out and Naomi squealed when I mentioned how my wolf met a mate. "Im pretty sure couples in our old pack were called mates!" She racked her brain for details. "What if Liam and you are supposed to be together?" She gave me a warm smile and engulfed me in a hug once more.
Ryan looked even more gloomy when I mentioned my mate. Something was bothering him but I couldn't figure it out.
Maybe he is guilty for leaving us there without protection.
My wolf suggested an idea and it seemed pretty reasonable. "Do you think they would let us join?" Naomi gave me a look. I looked around trying to avoid her question. "I mean if he is your mate and you are the luna I guess he has to let us join." She poked farther and I squirmed away. I hated the idea of living with large groups of wolves. Sometimes living with Naomi and Ryan was hard enough. Maybe it was a loner wolf thing. That would make sense.
"I'll ask if you really want." I sighed in defeat. We had tried to join another pack before but before we could even try they drove us out of their territory. Ryan looked like he wanted protest but he kept himself quiet. Naomi danced in victory and she started towards the forest.
Before we even started walking back two fully clothed guys about our age and the girl from before stopped us. One of the guys was tall with brown hair and tan skin, the other guy was a bit shorter with blonde hair and a lighter shade of tan. The girl had pale skin and cropped black hair. All of them looked like fighters.
They looked like they were assessing my pack which made me feel protective of my friends. I glared and they backed away. The girl's eyes clouded over and the brown hair guy started to speak.
"Alpha Liam has decided we should escort you to our pack grounds. Claire over here is asking what we should do with your friends." He motioned his hand to the black haired girl and I gave him a nod.
Her voice was higher than I'd expect for someone so fierce looking. "They can come along as well." Claire motioned for us to follow and we started going in a completely different direction with them.
I still wasn't sure I wanted to join this other pack but I guess I would have to anyway if I might be their Luna. What sucked was that it meant leaving my family and life behind. What might happen to my parents if they find me missing.
