::PROLOGUE::
"Good, good, you're ready," his smile was as fake as his titanium clip clip-on tie. Said it was honest, true, and helpful in many ways, but even I could tell it was plastic. "Sir, all you need to do is make sure the year is right, and get yourself situated into the pod."
"Alright. Thanks," I said, fidgeting awkwardly as I lay in the pod. Not saying anything else, I just stayed still and stared at my feet, tracing the contours of the dark leather and even darker laces.
"Say your good byes to the year 2130, sir," he said, messing with whatever controls this thing.
I'm just going to say 'good bye to financial hell and from being hated by the public' instead, alright? I thought to myself.
The year 2120 was horrible. Apart from Congress pretty much dying out and France and Japan teaming up to take America over, finances weren't the... best. Let's just say there were a lot more people living on the streets. Like, two and a half million more. And it's all my fault.
Well, not my fault directly.
It was my father's fault.
Dr. Simon Montgomery, head of the Advance corp.
And yeah, I'm blamed for it. I work for my father, and in turn, I'm what's causing this country, nay, this world such financial hell.
"I'm about to put in the chemicals. Are you ready?"
"As ready as I'll ever be," I said as cheerfully as I could manage.
"Alright, here we go," a few clicks, a beep or two, and the faint his of air passing through a vent sounded. The gas came in like a cloud, smelling faintly like new clothes before you wash them.
"Good bye, 2130..." I muttered as my eyes closed, feeling heavy, as my heart stopped, feeling constricted, and I finally... died.
::CHAPTER ONE::
Air filled my lungs, and pain seared through my body. Coughing, I tried to sit up, but hit my head on the dark glass above me.
"Holy fuck!" I heard a woman's voice shout, followed by the shushing of a male voice.
"Eve, shut up. I can't concentrate with you flinging profanities around," the male voice said.
"Well soooorry. I didn't know this was one of those fucking Koffins," the woman said, apparently kicking the side of the pod.
The glass over my head was slowly fading, showing the bright sunlight that was outside. I blinked and finally opened my eyes. In front of me was a small screen, and suddenly, it started to play a video.
"Uh, well, welcome to the year 2340..." My image said, sounding awkward and unsure of himself. "You... I... uhh, we're Gabrial Montgomery..." he/I continuted. "We.... Are... uhh, I mean, were the vice of the Advance corporation. But, you... I... decided to shut ourselves up in here," he/I grinned slightly, and I mimicked the emotion. The pain started to ebb away, and I was finally beginning to restore my body function and memories. The video droned on, reminding me of crap I didn't really want to think about right now.
