The room was empty when I returned. Harry's suitcase was gone. Did he leave me in Italy all alone? Then I saw a note on the bed. The writing was cursive and written in ink.

My love,

I'm deeply sorry for the pain I've caused you. Please know that this was just too much. I've tried and tried but this was never going to work. I had to do it. I did it for you. I thought things would be different in Italy but they're not. I'm sorry.

I'm so sorry.

I knew it was too much for him. The world is always cruel to (two) people in love. I needed some air.

I walked down to the café where Harry and I were on our second day. It was already our ninth day here. So much can happen within such little time. I ordered my usual latte.

The man in front of me got his order. It was a cappuccino. It looked so similar to my latte. I couldn't help but ask the barista what the difference was.

"Not much of a difference," said the man. "A cappuccino is just stronger."
