Damian's POV
I walked into my English class, and it was full of familiar faces that I already knew, except for one. She was beautiful with her auburn hair that made her stand out. Even though she was in uniform, she didn't dress like she wanted attention. She looked like a nice person, so I wanted to talk to her. I took a seat sitting next to her. I got set up for the class. She was keeping to herself like she didn't want to say hi to anyone. I tapped her on the shoulder, and I instantly regretted it. I wasn't ready to talk to her. She looked up and the first thing I saw was her baby blue eyes. Wow, I have never seen eyes like hers. "Hello." I spoke. "Hi." she said. She sounded a bit shy, which only made her more interesting.
"I'm Damian. Damian McGinty." I held my hand out. "I'm Courtney. Courtney Jenson." She didn't sound like she was from here or anywhere near here. She placed her hand in my hand. Without thinking, I took her hand and kissed it. She looked a bit surprised, but she didn't mind it. We let our hands go. Her hand was so soft, and gentle. The bell rang, and McFowler walked up to the front of her desk. She welcomed us back from vacation, and then she said something caught my attention. "Today, we have a foreign exchange student from America." America? Who is it? I looked to my right to see Courtney. No, she can't be, can she?
McFowler asked Courtney to stand. "Class this is Courtney Jenson from America. She will be joining us for the rest of the year." She was from America. Now, I really wanted to get to know her. She walked up to the front of the class to sit down. Alright, we were getting to know her for the rest of the week. I'm really looking forward to this week. Noelle asked her which state she was from. "I'm from the farming valley of California." she answered. Well, at least I won't have to ask her where from California she was from. Someone from the back asked her if she had any siblings. "I'm the youngest of three. I have two older brothers." I really wanted to ask her if she was single out of curosity, but Ray beat me to it. "Do you have a boyfriend?" he asked. Then, they laughed because they knew that was an inappropriate question, and he was probably trying to see if she would fall for him. I don't know why he hangs around me. It's not like we are real best friends.
McFowler told her that she didn't have to answer, but the look on Courtney's face said she wanted to answer. "I'll answer." she spoke. We are interested in what she was going to say. "No, I don't have a boyfriend. If I was to pick one, it certainly wouldn't be you. You are supposed to be nice and respectful to ladies." Wow. She handled that really well. She was certain with that answer, and she didn't care what other people thought about it. I really wanted to know more about her now. " I really liked your answer. It went well with that accent of yours." Why did I just say that? She smiled, "Thanks. Where are you off to?" "I have ACE next period." I answered. "So do I." I have another class with this American angel? I couldn't contain my happiness. I smiled at her, "Then, let's go together." We walked to ACE together, and we set our stuff down next to each other.
I was going to ask her a question about her interests, but she was gone. I looked across the room to see her talking to Miss Gabriola, our dance instructor. I went into the changing room to get out of my uniform and changed into something comfortable for the class. This was the only class where we were able to get out of uniform. Try dancing with a pair of slacks, and button up shirt? It's never good. I returned from the changing room, and I take a seat on the floor near the wall, waiting for Courtney to return. After two minutes goes by, she takes a seat next to me. "What performance are you guys preparing for?" she asked me. "I don't know. She said to us that she would announce the next routine after vacation." Courtney nodded for understanding. I was really looking forward to what Gabriola had ready for us. "
The bell rang, Gabriola welcomed us back, and introduced Courtney to the class as the foreign exchange student. She was announcing the trios and duets for the performance coming at the end of the year. I'm really hoping that I get to have a duet with Courtney. "Damian and Sadie will be duet # 3." No! I didn't want to be Sadie for a duet. She can't carry a tune in a bucket. Whoever has the duet with Courtney is super lucky. "Damian and Courtney will be duet #5." Yes!!!! I get to have a duet with her. I couldn't contain my smile after that announcement, but it quickly went away when I heard " Jessica, Damian, and Gracie will be trio #7." This is bad. Jessica is my ex-girlfriend from freshman year.
It wasn't my fault that she was constantly nagging at me to do whatever she wanted to do. She was always trying to someone else to be her boyfriend, saying that I needed to do more, or treat her like a princess. Because of her, I didn't have a social life. So, I dumped, and she hasn't forgiven me since. Once that she was finished with the arrangements of the trios and duets. Madeline, Lacey, Cameron, and Caleb came and took Courtney away from me before we discuss out duet together. Jessica started walking my way to discuss our trio. "Hey Damian." she said trying to get as close to me as possible. I stepped away from her to keep the distance between us. "Hi Jessica." "You ready to work on the trio together. What do you think about us being a family and me dying. That's where Gracie comes in to your rescue to help you with the sorrow."
Before I could respond, the bell rung. I walked away, gathered my stuff, and went into the changing room. After I returned from the changing room, I looked around for Courtney. Before Courtney was able to leave, I quickly stopped her. " Let's talk about our duet during break. Is that alright?" "Yeah, where do you want to meet?" she questioned. "What class do you have?" "Irish History" she answered. That was across the building from here. Unfortunately, I had Statistics this period, but it wasn't too far from her class. "I'll meet you at the door of your next class." She smiled, and agreed with me. She hurried to her class while I went to mine. I can't help, but wanting to go after her. However, the bell was getting to ring so I had to hurry to my class.
The class went by so slow. I kept on watching the clock just wanting to get out, and spend time with Courtney. As the bell rang, I quickly gathered my stuff from my desk, and raced to History to talk to Courtney about the duet, and to get to know her better. Finally, I made it to the door, and she was just walking out of the classroom. "You kept your word." She joked. "Of course, I always keep my word." I joked back. So we talked about the duet and we decided to go with two friends who have a hidden love for each other. After that, we didn't talk about the duet. We talked about her.
I found that we had a lot in common. She loves being outdoors, spending time with family, singing, and much more. Before we knew it, the warning bell rang. This meant that we had to go towards our seperate ways again. I wanted to be with her again for lunch, but we had to set up a place to meet up at. "I'll meet you for lunch by the lab." "Alright, I'll see you at lunch." she spoke. I smiled at her, and built up the courage to say this "See you soon, love." Then, I walked into the crowd onto my Governement class. I would probably have to explain why I called her love during lunch, only if she says anything about it.
