I take a deep breath and head into my childhood home, a duffle bag in my hand. Knowing my parents are at the store, I drop my bag at the door and take a look around. It looks nicer. Cleaner, since they don't have the two big mutts we had back when I was a teenager. I smile at the memory and hold back the tears. I miss my puppies..
They still have the old piano and I go and sit down, playing a few short songs.
"Hey, where-" I stop when I hear Blake's voice. "Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt," he says, smiling sympathetically.
"Oh, no. You're not interrupting. I was just.. Never mind. What were you going to ask?"
"Where would you like me to put your baggage?" He asks, softer this time, giving me a look of pity.
"Stop looking at me like that, you know I hate it," I laugh. "Just put them in the hallway. I'm not even sure where we are sleeping yet."
He smirks, "Well, hopefully we will bunk together, so you don't freeze at night." He winks playfully.
"Hardy har har," I say then laugh. "My parents should be here any minute so try not to break anything..?" I suggest, raising my eyebrows.
He rolls his eyes and places the three suitcases he brought in. I get up and close the piano then continue my walk down memory lane. I look on the hallway wall and see baby pictures of my brother, sister and I all over it and laugh softly. I keep going down the hallway and open up the first room on the right, which was, when I left, my brother's room. I was glad to hear that he moved out a month after I left and he got a job and is now married with a cute little girl who I always got pictures of sent in the mail. The room is now a game room maybe? I don't know. It has a few bookshelves with books, movies and video games and the consoles of the video games, a PS4, Xbox One and Xbox 360, were all in there with one flat screen tv. I sigh and go look at all the games, noticing most were ones I was actually allowed to play since they weren't my brothers. He must have taken all his when he moved out. I leave the room and close the door then go into the master bedroom on the left. It looks amazing! I wasn't expecting it to look as nice as it did, since my parents weren't the cleanest people in the world, but it looks lovely. They got a new bed I see, the old one was a queen. I see my dad's collection of Star Wars toys still hanging up by his side of the bed and he has added a lot to it since the last time I saw it. My mom still has her fish tank in there, but not the one in the living room anymore. I leave the room and head to my old room. I was really curious as to what they changed it to. I mean, it's been 3 years since I've been in this house, so it could be anything. I wipe my palms on my jeans and walk in and gasp, seeing the painting I did when I was like 15 maybe still there. The light blue walls, white clouds on the ceiling, butterfly stickers spread around, and the glow in the dark stars still intact. My parent's old bed, the queen, was now in here, on the far wall with the window. The walls, of course, don't have my posters up anymore except one or two, but mostly just all my awards and my sisters and brothers. I smile when I see that they even have my brother's daughter's awards all along the walls as well.
"Oh good, you found your room," I hear a woman's voice say and I start getting tears in my eyes and my throat starts closing up as I turn around.
"Mommy.." I choke out.
She opens her arms, tears in her eyes and I, of course, start sobbing and run into her arms, hugging her tight.
"I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have left, especially the way I did. I missed you so much," I try my hardest to say.
"Shhhh sweetheart, it's okay," I hear my mom say.
We stayed like that for a while, so we could calm down. When I left, it wasn't on a good note. My mom and I were fighting about some stupid little thing and I had gotten so mad that I got all my stuff together and just left. I had already gotten through 2 years of community college, so I was set to go anywhere, so I applied for a college in Massachusetts, where my mom's biological father lived. I contacted him and he was excited to say the least and I gathered my last jobs final few paychecks that I saved and cashed them out to buy a plane ticket to Massachusetts. As soon as I could, I had left, in angry tears and I so totally regret all that had happened.
