A/N hey guys thanks for reading! Im going to keep these authors notes short and simple. So this takes place in mid California And  yes it gets pretty cold there in the winter but anyways lets get on with it! …

Melly’s P.ov

I hurried through the thick air in the empty streets of London late at night. The store front signs flickered slightly and the cool wind whipped my long dark hair around. I pulled my scarf up higher on my face, just enough so my blue eyes peeked over the wooly fabric. My grocery bag thudded againsed my legs as I rushed to get back home to get out of this freezing weather  I enjoyed the fact that no one was around, but was a little on edge from the darkness of the night. I longed to be home with my only friend Claudia and have a nice cup of tea while watching television by the fire,  but of course we where out of milk and junk food so Claudia sent me to the grocery store down the street from our apartment.

I bet you think of California as the place with always warm weather but for some strange reason our winter was brutal in california this year. I came to this beautiful city to attend collage and to get away from all the memories in my small hometown.

I quickly turned the corner continuing on my way home when a large force slammed right into me. My bags cluttered onto the ground spilling the contents all over the sidewalk. The gallon of milk craked open splattering milk all over my shoes, I sadly watched the white liquid drip down the sidewalk and into the sewer systems.

Perfect, I mutter under my breath before dropping to my knees to attempt to save the junk food, that is currently covered in milk. I picked up one of the bags of candy and watched the milk drip off of it creating a puddle on the ground.

“Here let me help you” I was startled by the deep voice that sounded from above me. I was unaware that someone was there intently watching my every move, usually someone would run into you and not give you a second glance. My entire body stiffened as I watched him slowly lean down across from me, picking up the oreo cookies and wiping them off with his hand before reaching out to hand them to me. It took me a couple seconds to respond but I slowly pulled the scarf from around my face and reached out to grab the cookies from his hand.

He had a beanie pulled down over his ears, but I could still see his dark hairs from the hems of the hat. He also had a scarf covering his face but still revealing for his frost bitten nose. His eyes were deep green from the lights in the store windows, and the corners were crinkled indicating that he was smiling under his scarf.  As soon as our eyes met his expression changed from a genuine smile to more of a surprised look. I murmured a small thanks before scooped the rest of the contents into the bag and picked up the empty milk carton to throw in in the trash. I went to go back to the store to get more milk for Claudia but as soon as I turned around I was face to face with him again, we were so close I could feel his breath tickling my face. I haven’t been so close to a boy in a long time but I tentively took a step back so I had a little more space. He furrowed his eyebrows and tilted his head, probably a little confused about my hesitancy twords him.

To be honest he was quite an attractive man, I bet any girl would swoon over his presence. If this was a couple years ago, I bet I would too.

“I’m so sorry about that, I’m usually better than that” He shook his head slightly, a pink tint showing in his cheeks either from the embarrassment, or the cold winter night. his sudden change in demeaner threw me off a little. I gave him a small little smile indicating that it was alright

“Here let me but you some more milk” he said reaching out grabbing the grocery bag from my hand, and gave me a genuine smile.

“You really don’t have to its okay” I looked up at him, a little nervous by his presence.

“Its okay I want to.” I wasn’t going to deny getting some free milk, because me and Claudia are tight on money as it is. So I followed him down the street again, making sure that I stayed a safe distance away, just incase.

“You really don’t have to carry those bags, I can do it myself” I said my words slightly muffled due to the numbness of my lips.

“Its okay, I want to be a proper gentleman” we locked eyes and he smiled at me revealing his dimples. I’m a sucker for dimples. I slowly found myself smiling. He made it pretty clear that he didn’t mean any harm, so I relaxed little bit, not realizing how tense I was. I kept my eyes focused on the ground refusing to look up at him. We didn’t do much talking, considering the wind was whipping in our ears so there is not much you could hear. When we finally got into the store I shuffled over to the milk quickly grabbing the 2 percent and shuffling back before he could even get a couple steps into the store. I Looked up at him giving him a small half smile signaling I was all ready for check out. He smiled back at me before taking the milk from me and walking over in a different direction then the register.

“Where are you going uh….”

“ Parker” he finished my sentence for me, considering we never did actually tell each other our names.

“I’m going to get some tea, do you want some?” he already was pouring himself a cup of hot water before he turned to look at me waiting for a response. I stood there for a second, unsure of what to say. Tea really sounded good right now expecially in this cold weather. I didn’t realize how long it took me to reply until Parker talked

“You want tea.” he stated before turning around and pouring a second cup of water. If the guy already started pouring me tea, there is no way I’m denying it now. I walked over next to him, the clicking of my boots signaling that I was coming too him. He looked at me before handing me the cup of hot water, then gestured to the small selection of tea bags placed in front of us. I giggled slightly wich made Parker’s smile light up even more.

“Why thank you” I said before reaching over him to grab a herbal tea. I started fumbling with the opening of the tea. My numb fingers where not being able to function properly after being in the freezing cold.

“Herbal tea, nice choice” Parker said as he reached for the same packet of tea that I took and then ripped it open with ease before dunking it into the steaming water.

“Herbal tea is the best tea” I replied still trying to get my fingers to function properly. He looked over at me and noticed I was struggling. He chuckled before reaching over to packet and ripping it open and also placing it into the warm water for me.

“thank you” I mumbled a little embarrassed that I couldn’t finish a simple task

“No problem….” He began before furrowing his eyebrows and looking at me. I realized I have never told him my name

“Melody, Melly for short” I finished his sentence for him before formally reaching my hand out for him to shake. He looked at it questioningly, I didn’t realize how stupid I looked going for a hand shake right now but there is no backing out now. He put on that killer smile of his and laughed a bit before taking my hand in his and giving in a firm shake. His warm hands easily covered my smaller ones. I couldn’t help but giggle at the slightly akward moment before turning away and hiding behind my hair. I held the tea up to my face to smell it, and I let the steam warm up my nose..

“I guess we should check out now” he said before grabbing everything and checking out at the register. We stood by the door and parker opened it wide so that I could walk through. The freezing cold air hit me and I shivered slightly, before sucking in a sharp breath and stepping outside to be engulfed by the cold air.

“Let me walk you home.” His deep voice washed out slightly by the wind. I wasn’t going to deny the extra protection, expecially at this time of night.
